Inspiring Conversations with Roberta Del Campo of Del Campo Dermatology & Laser Institute

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roberta Del Campo.

Hi Roberta, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always been a science-minded individual and I love helping people so medicine was a perfect fit. I then was attracted to dermatology specifically when I dealt with a skin condition called melasma in my early twenties. When I finished my medical and aesthetic dermatology training at University of Michigan, I joined an elite practice in South Beach where I grew as a provider but I had a dream, a dream to start Del Campo Dermatology and Laser Institute. My vision was to develop a place where the most state of the art treatments would be offered and the focus would be on comprehensive, personalized treatment plans. I also wanted to develop a space that was more inviting with less of a sterile medical feel. My interior designer, Wade Allyn Hallock brought this vision to life. And Del Campo Dermatology and Laser Institute opened in 2019.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I opened my new office space less than a year before COVID hit. That was a bit of a struggle. So much time, money and love went into my current space and when COVID hit, there was such unpredictability. As a business owner, I knew my responsibility to continue to care for those who worked for me and to keep my business alive. I held tight and found creative ways to grow and here we are today, a booming practice with a phenomenal patient base.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Del Campo Dermatology & Laser Institute?
I am a board-certified dermatologist who is fellowship trained in aesthetics. This is unique to my field and there are only a handful of dermatology programs that offer a fellowship (this is an extra year after finishing dermatology residency) in cosmetics. I am also a lover of technology so I pride myself on having the safest and most efficacious treatments on the market. I take the time to really understand my patients’ goals and I develop a comprehensive treatment plan to make them look rand feel their best. I focus on natural enhancement rather than changing them.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My two boys make me the happiest. I have a 19 months old, Sebastian and a six months old, Mateo. They are my everything. They make me smile and laugh more than I ever have. I ooze happiness when I am in their presence.
