Exploring Life & Business with Danelle & Michele Pino of WYN 317 Gallery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danelle & Michele Pino.

Hi Danelle & Michele, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Back in 2013, we decided we wanted to work in the art field with artists. Since very young, we were exposed to great art all over with my father who was an artist. He and my mom loved to take us to museums locally and when we traveled. Our passion was urban art so we really wanted to have a gallery in Wynwood where there were many galleries and murals. We looked for something we could afford and were fortunate enough to find a small retail space that would less us pay a reasonable rent and give us a four months trial lease. We’re proud to say that we were the first gallery in Miami that was dedicated totally to this type of art. From the very beginning, we had monthly exhibitions sometimes by one artist and other times group shows. We were relieved to see that there was a demand and a lot of enthusiasm for the art we represented. In 2017, we decided to expand and invest in our own property for the gallery and current space located just outside of Wynwood in the Buena Vista neighborhood.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
From the beginning, we were encouraged and were able to continue living our dream since artists were grateful to have a gallery that became an important platform for them to exhibit, exchange ideas and interact with each other.

One challenge had to do with the business aspect. Since neither one of us had ever had a business or rented a commercial space before, we had to learn quickly about permits, taxes and the laws that have to do with running a retail space.

Another challenge was learning how to promote our business as well as the artist’s work.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We’re open Tuesday-Saturday 11am-6pm and by appointment at other times. Clients can shop online at wyn317.com. We ship art and merchandise all over the world.

We’re known for giving support to the artists and the community by offering additional services such as framing services, art installation and finding commissions for specific works including murals at residences and businesses.

We give a lot of artists their first solo exhibitions and often offer artist residencies where they can stay and work on their craft in an apartment above our gallery.

Children are always welcome at our opening receptions, monthly workshops and outdoor movie screenings.

What matters most to you? Why?
We take pride in being ethical, fair and professional with the artists and also our clients and collectors. Our biggest joy comes from finding just the right art that a customer is delighted to purchase and will bring them joy and satisfaction for years to come.
