Rising Stars: Meet Lion Muhammad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lion Muhammad.

Hi Lion, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m from West Palm Beach, Florida. I started writing poetry back in 2012, I was fresh out of high school getting ready for college, and decided to try my hand in making music professionally in 2017. I released my 1st studio single, “Young Ghetto Boys,” in March of 2018, and instantly realized that I was actually decent making music, but between school, work, and trying to find a balance between it all my career fell behind, but not my drive. I consistently worked on evolving my music skill each and every day and took it a step further with learning how to produce at the bottom of 2018. In 2020 with the help of “SBChrome,” a music producer/engineer from Fort Myers, Florida I released my first studio album, “The Heart of The Lion” A grammy-winning album in my eyes. The album was about my life and struggles as an individual with a dream that only I can see. Shortly after the release of the “The Heart of The Lion,” I shifted my focus to producing albums and singles with artists within the city of Fort Myers and dropping one more album that year myself titled ” Smooth Jazz Radio.” only available on youtube. As for 2022, I am now in the works of finishing up my next studio album called “The Canvas: The Painter.”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth at all, but anything worth chasing life isn’t just handed on a platter. I believe confidence was one of my hardest battles. I take to build the confidence to be who you see in the mirror. Although I knew I had what it takes to make timeless music, I didn’t believe at times as much as the individuals around me. Another issue that I faced was getting people to see a vision that only presented itself to me. It took a while for me to understand that in order for someone else to believe, I had to fully invest myself as well. I had to understand that I had to go out of my way to get my way with learning such skills as videography, marketing, producing. Adobe photoshop. At times, I felt as if I was drifting away from my goals, but each time I came back to the music, I was better than when I had left.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I make and produce jazz-based hip-hop. I like to call it sophistic-Trap, but I am well known for talking about life in music and being relatable to the everyday working person with a dream that they are fighting for. What sets me apart from other music creatives is the sound that I bring. It’s hard to place a southern Florida boy that raps like he’s from New York and produces jazz like the great Miles Davis.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
At this point in my career, what matters to me most is completing everything that I promised myself and others. I rather know I have tried it all than have never tried at all.
