Hi Lamar, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello world! My name is Lamar, and I’m a performing artist based out of South Florida. My first time engaging in music was back in 2003 when a talented producer from Miami by the name of GoMarvelous introduced me to the behind the scenes side of music. I fell in love that day. I was always in love with music from the age of five, but that moment meant more due to the creativity of production in music. I made some songs on and off for a few years and then when I left Miami, I didn’t have any direction on how to make music since I didn’t own any musical equipment. It wasn’t until I made contact with Producer, Lottery from The Lottery Music Group in Palm Beach County, FL who provided that opportunity for me once more in 2019. I took advantage of this opportunity to create music that came from my life experiences, family and friend’s life experiences and situations that I’ve heard before. I wanted to create R&B music that was reminiscent of the 90s and early 2000s that were timeless. With Lottery’s exceptional beat-making skills, I was able to create a modern sound with storytelling lyrics that many can relate to. Now, music has been a centerpiece to my life and making relatable, inspiring, impactful music is a focal point to my journey in life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road in music due to the inactivity of being around music for an extended period of time. However, since consistently being back in music since 2019, it has been a blessing. The hardest part of music today is knowing who and what to place your budget into in order to maximize your exposure as an independent artist.

My artist’s name is Lamar. I am a singer/songwriter out of Palm Beach County, FL. I love to write all my music due to the fact that I grew up writing all the time to be expressive. Writing, for me is second nature. I believe my ability to write music, come up with catchy hooks and be efficient in those categories sets me apart from others. I am an R&B artist who has also engaged in the hip hop side of music. Most importantly, I have engaged in some Caribbean music as well due to me being of Jamaican descent. My biggest record, “On Me” is a feel good island vibes song with a nice Afrobeat that sets the tone for any listener.
