Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn West.
Hi Dawn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello. I am Author and Coach Dawn West. Wow. Where do I begin? My story has many twists and turns, ups and downs. It is that very thing that brought me to this beautiful place in life. Just over a year ago, amidst the pandemic, I decided to stop just talking about “retiring to the beach” and make it my reality. So I did just that. Of course, life as we knew it had changed. That initial change for me was scary. That fear of what am I going to do if the sock stash runs out? I’ve been broke before and Lord knows who wants to do that again? During that quarantined time, I started my health and wellness franchise through Total Life Changes that I was able to operate from my phone with no on hand inventory. It did well, so I quickly began showing other women and men how to do the same and get healthy in the process. That was an area that I admittedly had slacked on with the busy hustle and bustle of life. So it was much needed for a personal transformation.
Once the world started opening back up a little more in some states, I was able to get back to another thing that I’ve always enjoyed doing which was personal concierge services. Still operating from just my phone, I was able to book luxury rental cars, yachts, and luxury lodging for travelers in Miami. All this while still planning my move.
I traveled back and forth to Miami monthly until I relocated fully because I understood that proximity was everything. It was time for me to make some changes. The move was by far the best one yet. Not only am I able to make an income in luxury concierge services, I’ve been able to meet some dope people and make some great business connections. Not to mention I am absolutely enjoying every moment of it. Whether I’m in a cabana on the beach, drinking champagne on a yacht, or sidekicking on a jetski, I’ve found my paradise. It’s a lifestyle.
Now, Of all of my titles and areas of expertise, my goal was to merge what I do/what I’m good at with helping others. Helping others who have a passion but don’t know how to have that meet their purpose. Find that niche. Then we have people who simply don’t want to get caught slipping as so many of us did when that pandemic initially hit. And although I am no stranger to coaching and mentoring, I opened my calendar back up and also quickly put out an ebook titled There’s a link for that, which is a brief, yet informative overview as to how to make an income from your cellphone, even in your sleep. As they say, experience is the best teacher. I give my mentees and clients all the game from my personal experiences. So when people ask what I do, I simply say “I teach people how to make a bag from their cell phones.” These are the things they don’t teach in school. Working smart, not hard.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As far as challenges goes. Getting out of my own head and remembering that I was not my past failures and that I am capable of anything I set my mind to. I’ve put a lot of pressure and time stamps on myself in the past. As far as my move goes, the biggest obstacle as with any move is getting acclimated in a strange place and building an entirely new customer/client base. And making genuine connections. All in all, I can’t complain one bit as I’ve been attracting everything and everyone that is for me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I did mention my ebook, however, I am also a three times published Author with book four being introduced on 2-22-22. That in itself makes me proud. Creating has always brought me so much joy. And this is another area that I mentor others on. Getting their book idea from their head to paper. I’d like to think that what most sets me apart is transparency with my clients and mentees and my genuine desire to see them win.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If I could offer any advice, it would be to get out of your own way, don’t worry about outside noise, and do the thing you’ve been thinking of doing but feel nervous because you think you aren’t ready. Whatever YOUR thing is…Unload the clip. It’s your time!
