Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
DNA Labs International is a private woman and family-owned, ISO/IEC 17025:2017accredited DNA laboratory located in Deerfield Beach, Florida. We are celebrating 18 years of supporting law enforcement agencies processing criminal forensic casework, and we are the second-largest private forensic laboratory in the country. Founded in 2004, DNA Labs International is run by a mother-daughter team. We are passionate about our work and instill and share the company’s core mission: to provide the highest quality results, friendly service, and innovative technology for law enforcement agencies and the victims they represent. When it comes to forensic casework, we have the newest technology in the US, and we work with hundreds of agencies across the US, Canada, and Caribbean Nations.
New DNA Technology Solves More Crime
This country has seen a 35% average increase in violent crime across all major cities in the last two years, especially shootings and other gun-related crimes. We get DNA results from fired or spent shell casings in over 43% of cases.
Our in-house genealogy team is another new technology, helping law enforcement provide investigative leads. They work closely with law enforcement to help find the person(s) of interest by building out a family tree utilizing public DNA databases when a case does not yield a CODIS hit or a match to a known suspect DNA profile. Forensic genetic genealogy (FGG) can assist your case and provide you with new leads. In October of 2021, we brought online NGS SNP testing for FGG, which has already helped us to provide investigative leads being used to solve a few cases that were previously not eligible with the existing SNP Array and Whole Genome Sequencing testing.
We are the only private lab in the country using this technology while adhering to the FBI QAS guidelines. Adhering to the accreditation standards by ANAB and processing everything in-house allows for this technology to maintain the chain of custody and will be court-admissible.
