Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Lopez.
Hi Hannah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A full-time creative and first-time mama of a beautiful girl, Savannah. Thriving in the beautiful Palm Beaches and creating magic for people behind the lens for more than 15 years. Growing up all over the world pushed me to dive into the world of creativity and art. From the time I could put film in a camera I was taking pictures and plastering them all over my bedroom walls (sorry mom) – Posing my pets, begging my neighborhood friends to model for me – the satisfaction of the perfect shot fueled my passion towards photography. I ventured into the world of film photography in college, classic dark-room processing was incredible and truly is my favorite art form. Graduating with deans honors in photography, I took my talents to Hollywood. My first professional venture was among the ranks of Disney and Universal Studios casting directors and aspiring talent. While slinging headshots were fun, my true passion was born after becoming a mother and witnessing all the beauty that comes with it. Those vulnerable moments, long nights, the constant unknowingness – it inspired me to want to be a part of other mother’s and families journeys.
I picked up my camera after a long hiatus, invested in myself, worked really hard to elevate my craft, and now have the honor of bringing beauty to the homes of local Floridians. The joy of seeing a newly engaged couple, to their wedding day, flash forward to their first babe – to capture that journey is truly a blessing and gives me so much gratitude for being a part of someone else’s life in such a big, beautiful way. If I’m not behind the camera, I am playing in the sand with my husband, Steven, and Savannah while our dog Chester is chasing the seagulls in Palm Beach.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Sometimes the bumpiest roads lead to the best destinations. Photography has been a constant in my life but taking it on as a business has given me a new perspective on the art.
Learning how to create a profitable business means investing in yourself, doing a lot of trial and error, and pushing your limits.
Through the self-doubt, I’ve learned to believe in myself more than ever.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in the moments of motherhood, from capturing the pregnancy to a fresh new babe. Pulling in the story of extraordinary lives and making them beautiful. Storytelling is my favorite part of this art, pulling the love of a family front and center for all to feel. Putting time in a bottle for them to keep forever.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Have the courage to try new things and confess that you still have so much to learn. Find a mentor that is doing it better than you and soak in their teachings, but know that your creativity and unique eye comes from you and you alone. Don’t lose yourself to the trends and let your creativity guide you.
