Meet Allie Amelio of Alexandra Gioia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Amelio.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Several years ago, I made a few pieces of jewelry for myself and all the ladies in my office at the time started placing orders with me. It was right around the holidays and I couldn’t believe how many pieces I sold in such a small office, so I thought I would open an Etsy shop just to see if anyone else might be interested. I ended up launching my line in 2014 and now, my pieces have been sold in 30+ boutiques.

This was a side hustle of mine for a few years and once my little girl was born five years ago, I decided to pursue Jewelry Design full time so I could stay home with my first baby. It was scary but the best decision I could’ve made for us. You can imagine beads and babies don’t mix so I opened a cozy Studio space in Tequesta, FL where I could separate work from home and also give our locals a place to shop my pieces in person. Now I have two little ones (3 + 5) and am so grateful to have a creative outlet for myself.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! With any business, you’re bound to have ups and downs. Sometimes I think to myself how can I possibly come up with a new bracelet or necklace when I’m in a creative rut. The best thing for me is to try not to force ideas or designs. They will eventually come even if it takes longer than I’d like.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Making jewelry was something I always loved since it gives me a a place to pour my creative energy into. I love putting my own spin on trends and especially love designing pieces that are meaningful. I have been able to make an impact through some of my pieces by raising thousands of dollars to help causes like Lighthouse for Hope who provide support for families fighting pediatric cancer and Operation Underground Railroad and its efforts to end human trafficking. In addition to meaningful pieces, my line is known for being neutral and are great everyday pieces. Quality is especially important to me so I use only high-quality gemstones and other materials.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I absolutely love my Peloton and have had a variety of instructors wear my pieces. A few months ago, one of my favorite Peloton instructors who happens to be from Jupiter, Callie Gullickson, popped into my studio to shop with her fam. I was so honored she chose my little shop and was thrilled to meet her in person!
