Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanneza Romero.
Hi Vanneza, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a fire eating bellydancer and the owner of Your Exquisite Entertainment which provides authentic and modern Middle Eastern entertainment in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach county. I started dancing at the age of 14 at a local dance studio that hired me to also be their part-time receptionist. During my nine years with them, I learned everything about teaching and how to run a dance studio business. After nine years, the studio and I parted ways so that I could perform more and gain real-life experience. I started dancing professionally around 2000 and kept growing and expanding. I saw a huge gap and lack of community in the belly dance gigging scene and began to connect myself with other dancers to fill in for the demand of shows thus officially creating my business in 2010. I provide entertainment for private events, weddings and Productions as well as weekly entertainment at nine different venues across three counties and I staff ten professional belly dancers on a weekly basis to fulfill our weekly shows as well as private events. As a performer myself, I dedicate a lot of time in reinventing myself as an artist and always looking to add wow factors to my craft. About ten years ago, I introduced fire into my shows which is what has brought me more opportunities and growth. I also train and certify my own team to perform with fire safely. My goal is to continue to expand and scale my business to the next level and continue to provide working opportunities for the next generation of belly dancers to come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been bumpy but not impossible. The struggles are the moments that provided an opportunities to grow. I’ve been confronted with undercutting and disloyalty. I’ve also had venue owners not take me seriously because I am a woman and because I am a dancer but in the end, everything has worked itself out and I am grateful for all the lessons learned from the challenges I had to face and how I chose to handle them.

I personally specialize in being me. I am best known for my charisma and my genuine and authentic connection with my audience when I perform. Aside from being the original fire eating bellydancer in South Florida, I stayed true to my creative development and ideas enjoy showing people something new, fresh and captivating. I’m also a leader in my community and pride myself in providing a safe, nurturing, and drama-free environment for other professionals to be a part of.
