Today we’d like to introduce you to Maireny Castillo.
Hi Maireny, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Venezuelan girl, I’ve been living in USA for almost eight years now, I just moved six months ago to Miami. I love makeup. In the beginning, I used to do makeup and hair for my friends. After I got here, I started with my Instagram page to do tutorials and photos of makeup and them I realized that it was my passion and I decided to do it as my job. Now I work as a full-time makeup artist and I love what I do.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of my struggles in the beginning was that I didn’t thought that I was good on what I do in comparison with other makeup artist. I was scared if the client doesn’t like my makeup and that kind of thought.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a makeup artist and hairstylist, I love makeup people feel happy and pretty.
I’m really proud of what I been doing. Working with artists, music videos, Pinterest. Video production.
I’m really dedicated and passionate about what I do. This is what sets me apart from others.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I think I’m a risk taker person about what I do. I never been in a school of makeup and that makes me feel that I take risks to do makeup just with my knowledge,
I took a big risk when I worked for a video Film of SFX makeup for a producción. I travel from Miami to New York to work there in this film. And it was an amazing experience. It was my first time working in a film like this and more doing sfx makeup. It was a challenge for me and I feel so proud of what I did, I learned a lot. And everybody was happy of the results.
