Today we’d like to introduce you to Parul Mehra.
Hi Parul, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a trained architect & did my college education as a student of art & architecture. Having worked in the architecture & design industry in New Delhi (India), I decided to switch gears & delve into art full time, as I felt it’s my true calling. I’ve successfully hosted several solo & group art exhibitions at various venues in India & overseas. Collaborating with like-minded curators & galleries gives me immense work satisfaction. I also associate with charities worldwide to support causes close to my heart.
Exploring different mediums is what I enjoy & hence I’ve also been taking up art courses to constantly evolve my style & also worked under the guidance of senior artists. My studios are in India & Singapore.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have been fortunate to meet curators, such as Ms. Sunaina (India – Artiste Culture) & other artist collectives in my journey in the art world. It’s been challenging through Covid-19 to plan any major art events, however the online shows I’ve been participating in with curators & galleries worldwide have made it an interesting experience.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love to paint themes around nature. My specialization currently is in mixed media art. It’s a medium which is constantly challenging me as an artist!
I really enjoy doing mixed media contemporary portraits & also exploring new techniques.
As an artist, I believe change is imperative & always evolving my artworks to present something new to my audience is my constant endeavour.
I believe one piece of art can engage an audience for eternity as long as it’s been created with passion!
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favourite memory would be to visit my family summer home in the mountains with my siblings & enjoy the outdoors. Climbing fruit trees, playing outdoor games & enjoying Atari video games on any cold & rainy evening… Simple times with my loving family!
