Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Dimpflmaier.
Hi Ron, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always had an interest in and a love for cooking. About seven years ago, I received a Big Green Egg grill from my parents for my birthday and I fell in love with grilling and smoking meats. I attended a Big Green Egg festival called an Eggfest at Wassi’s Meats in Melbourne and my love turned into an addiction. I started an Instagram page and started posting my food that I prepared on the grill. Before I knew it, my page started attracting more and more followers. It continued growing and Big Green Egg eventually reached out to ask if I’d like to be on their ambassador team, #BGETeamGreen. This was an incredible honor for me. I never even imagined that something like this was attainable for a backyard BBQ cook like myself. My Instagram page, @CptnRon302 continues to grow and I’ve been fortunate to be able to work together with many other elite brands in the cooking and BBQ world. My full-time job at the time required three weeks of travel per month. When the pandemic hit, my job came to an abrupt end. I am now working with FOGO Charcoal Company representing them in cooking events all over and currently film two grilling videos per week for their big YouTube channel. Another great honor that I have been asked to do is to write a monthly blog as the resident Big Green Egg EGGspert for GrillGirl.com.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Thankfully, it has been a very smooth road. I love the Big Green Egg and BBQ community and have really been blessed to have such a great presence within it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a backyard BBQ lover who has been fortunate enough to turn it into a career. I am very well known as being an EGGspert (expert) in cooking and preparing food on my many Big Green Egg smoker/grills. Creating dishes that may not normally be prepared on a grill is something that really sets me apart from the average griller out there. I’ve made everything from appetizers to soups to entrees to cakes and desserts on my grills and they have all been a smash hit. I love to see the smiles on people’s faces as they enjoy the food that I create. That is really the big payoff for me. Two of the greatest things that I’m most proud of is being on the Big Green Egg Ambassador team and the other is the work I do for FOGO Charcoal company. The YouTube videos are something that I could have only dreamed of!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Helping others and watching the joy that others get while enjoying the food that I create is definitely what I enjoy most. Sharing my experiences and watching others blossom due to something that I’ve taught is an incredible feeling to me as well. Spending time with my 2 kids, Ronald & Kaitlyn, girlfriend, Lynn & my Dad are the most important things in the world to me.
