Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Hernandez Vinasco.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a Professional Makeup Artist based in Miami and I love what I do!
Originally from Colombia, I moved to the United States in 2018 looking to pursue my passion in the makeup industry. My training began in Colombia with a 1on1 course I took with a local makeup artist. From there, I moved to Las Vegas where I joined a Makeup Academy and got certified as a Professional Makeup Artist. Las Vegas is a beautiful city and I was able to land a great job teaching makeup with the same academy while also doing side gigs with photographers, weddings, and customers overall!
With the pandemic, my job as a Makeup Artist in Las Vegas became more difficult (the whole city shut down!) and along with my husband, we decided to move to Miami to be closer to our friends and family. This also meant starting from scratch: networking and looking for new customers on the East coast.
Miami has been amazing! I am so grateful for having had the chance to meet so many wonderful individuals that have helped me spearhead my career in the right direction. Models, photographers, video producers, and overall, great friends that I can rely on for opportunities in weddings, music videos, fashion shows, and many more events that I have been part of.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but then again, whose entrepreneurial road has been smooth? I have faced many challenges moving into a new city, where I didn’t really know anyone who would book my services. English is not my native language, and even though I give my 120% to communicate with my customers in the language they prefer, I would be lying if I’d said it has been easy to master this language.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Professional Makeup Artist, my services include makeup for music videos, photoshoots, weddings, and artistic makeup. For certain events, I also provide hairstyling services.
“La Rubia Maquilla” is a brand that I have built based on trust and convenience. Every time someone books one of my services, I give them the option to have the service in the location they need. Whether that’s in a photo studio or in a fancy island on Fisher Island (yes, I crossed the ferry with my car!), I will provide my services wherever my customers need me to.
I’m proud of what I do, and my work is different from the others due to my education as an Industrial Designer. This has helped me understand the theory of colors, along with a deep knowledge of beauty and aesthetics that allows me to combine shapes and colors to match a person’s needs. I don’t copy and paste makeup across customers, each style is different and unique with a personal “La Rubia Maquilla” finishing touch.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I don’t recall having a favorite childhood memory. They were all so great! Though, I do remember spending a lot of time with my sister and just having so much fun with her. Miss you sis!
