Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamar Lee.
Hi Kamar, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started cooking at an early age, always involved in cooking thru out high school and an active member in the Food & Nutrition club. I then went on to trade school and left at the top of my class as student of the year. My first professional cooking job was @ the Hilton hotel in Jamaica, where I worked all departments but I was most happy working the show kitchen at the pool. I then migrated to the USA where I worked at the Hard rock for several years. I moved up the ranks quickly as I was a fast learner and always willing to get the job done. After covid, I decided that more family time was needed and I had to make a change. There birthed “Lee’s Curbside Kitchen”. This is a partnership with my husband who is also a trained Chef. We cooked mostly Jamaican food. With social media and the help of friends, family and customers we started getting calls to do private chef services. With the need for smaller and more intimate settings , new clientele, we decided to change our business name to “Lees’ Private chef & Concierge Services”. We also partner with owners of Private residences and Yachts’ for vacation services.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No…it had many challenges along the way. Start ups are always the roughest. We stayed dedicated to our craft, kept pushing and learn along the way . Coming into a saturated market now for private chefs you have to make your mark and your path as well.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Catering, meal prep and private chef services. We don’t just cook we create an experience for our clients We enjoy cooking seafood and we are mostly known for putting a spin on client requests.
Most proud of the fact that we did not give up on our dreams.
Providing food experiences that make my clients happy.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Any book by Anthony Bourdain he is open and honest about life in the kitchen.
