Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisset Figueroa.
Hi Lisset, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story started 29 years ago in Cardenas, Cuba where I was born. I was always an introverted but very creative girl that loved to participate in school plays and dress ups. When I was seven years old, my parents won the visa lottery to come to the US and I grew up most of my life in Hialeah Gardens/Miami. I always had a nice life plan of finishing all of my school before getting married and having kids, which I ended up doing that exact same thing. I graduated FIU with a Bachelors in Human Resources and a Master’s Degree in Business Administrations. I worked in various corporate jobs but most importantly in my parents successful Business “Americas Tours” here I worked in person ever since I got pregnant with my first child and then mostly at home because I wanted to be a present mom for both of my boys. Then in 2020 when work got a bit slow due to the pandemic, I found my passion… The beauty industry. I learned different makeup techniques by watching lots of YouTube, practicing every day on myself, creating videos and learning how to express myself better on camera. I then created my page on Instagram @lismaniabeauty and YouTube channel where I can be as creative as I want. I post different makeup looks, tutorials, reviews, modeling pictures, reels, videos and create very detailed captions.
How do I earn income from this? Different brand contacts me to send me their products for me to promote it creatively in my Instagram or YouTube and I charge a set rate for my work. I adore creating different makeup looks, playing with new products, dressing up in a new fashion clothing piece and taking beautiful pictures of the products.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road… some of the struggles has been to manage time to do my work with two small kids at home, planing beforehand my pictures and videos while maintaining my work schedule and making time to stay healthy. I will say that gaining the right people that love my work in my social media has been the most difficult but everything is possible if you stay consistent and not give up. I will say that there were days where I wanted to quit because I didn’t see progress but those were the days that I pushed myself even harder because it’s what I love and I knew that eventually, it was going to be worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in content creation for my Beauty page in Instagram @lismaniabeauty and my YouTube channel. I take product pictures in different setups, I do different makeup looks with products that brands send me, modeling pictures in nice settings and do different review videos. I am very proud of how far I have come in such a little time. I am a very humble person that loves to help others, whoever contacts me I always answer to them… it doesn’t matter if it’s a brand, a company or a follower. I always try to motivate and bring light in my posts and hope to teach someone something new. I am a one woman type of show, in both of my social media, I do my own work… from creating the picture/video to editing to answering emails/comments/Dms and I am very proud of my time management skills.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think there are three important characteristics to success; Drive, Passion and Patience. You need to be a Driven person to be able to make things happen and make sure you work as hard as you can to stand out from the rest. You need to have passion for what you are doing so that you can actually make/create something beautiful. Lastly, patience because it’s a long and rough journey that can be tolerated only with time and patience.
