Daily Inspiration: Meet Crystal Pearson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Pearson.

Hi Crystal, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
WHO WE ARE Ms. Crys’ Creations, LLC was founded by myself, Crystal Pearson, in January 2019 and became an official business entity in June 2020. Since childhood, it was instilled in me to use my creativity to connect with people. This creativity came in the form of music and arts & crafts. As an adult, crafting became a form of therapy and balance for my day-to-day responsibilities. Crafting has allowed me to slow down, center myself, and focus.

As an avid supporter of urban culture, I found myself constantly seeking ways to express my love for black culture. Custom tees were my favorite! But purchasing black history and Juneteenth apparel from non-POC’s didn’t make sense to me. Naturally, my focus in crafting turned into making my own tee’s. When I realized that my friends would not let me rest until I “hooked them up” I knew that what I was doing as a form of therapy could also serve as an extra source of income as well as promote a beautiful sense of pride among my peers. So it made perfect sense… and cents.

THE MISSION
To create custom tees and things for a cultural and fashionable lifestyle.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being an entrepreneur comes with ALL the challenges such as coming up with new ways to engage with my followers and supporters, creative ways to advertise, and managing finances. All challenges that I’m willing to tackle to ensure the success of m business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
MC2 specialized in custom tees. What sets us apart from other crafting businesses and custom apparel companies is that our designs are original and not purchased from other designers. We pride ourselves in personable customer services and transparency with the people who patronize our small business.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I’ve learned how to use social media and other virtual platforms to stay engaged with my supporters, even when I’m not selling anything at all.
