Today we’d like to introduce you to Charte Griffith.
Hi Charte, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a natural creative and artistic ability. Back in 2015 I discovered my love for makeup artistry. Like many other MUAs that began their journeys around that time, YouTube videos and endless hours of practice allowed me to hon my craft. For years I provided free makeup services in order to become comfortable applying makeup on other people’s face. I started taking paying clients in 2017 when I was hired to do my first bridal makeup session.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
In regard to creating content and putting out makeup looks, I would say those things are the easiest tasks to complete because they are the end results of the years I have invested in helping me get to this point.
On the other hand, building a brand, creating multiple products from nothing at all, reaching different audiences and getting my name out there has been more difficult than I anticipated. The beauty industry like many others is saturated with so many other talented and hard working creators; however, that has not discouraged me. I truly love every part of my entrepreneurial journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Outside of makeup artistry and I Am Chenel Cosmetics, I am a Respiratory Therapist and Health Informatics professional. I am known for being a team player, an efficient caregiver and very knowledgeable in the realm of Respiratory Therapy and Health Informatics. I am most proud of being able to practice in my field of study as well as work to fulfill my dream of becoming a staple/ mogul in the beauty industry.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I feel like the beauty industry in particular is currently starting to take a turn; I am starting to see more emphasis placed on inclusion. Smaller names and brands are seemingly getting more recognition. I believe in five years, the beauty industry will be even more open to smaller brands. I’m excited to see where I Am Chenel Cosmetics will be in that time frame as well.
