Inspiring Conversations with Courtney Lee of Auntie Coco’s Furry Friend Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Lee.

Hi Courtney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins with my name. I know it sounds silly, but my Aunt Donna I started calling Auntie (in a sophisticated manner of course) when I was younger as just something fun! When I moved to South Florida (originally from PA), I had two roommates, Emily and Joelle. For some reason, they always called me “Co” and I called them Auntie Em and Jo. Eventually, it became Auntie CoCo and I loved it! No one had ever called me that, so I thought it was super cute. Growing up, I was ALWAYS a babysitter (and don’t get me wrong, I love babies and now love being an Auntie Co to human babes), but somehow dogs spoke to me. Actually, Auntie Em had a co-worker who had two chihuahuas (Lemon and Chester) that traveled for work, so she needed a sitter – somehow I became a topic of conversation and BAM, I had my first gig! Another opportunity came from my work where I had a VP who needed a dog sitter, she didn’t think I was serious about dog sitting and I said, umm yes!! Now, I have been watching Lexie for years! The rest is kind of history. I worked on building my Instagram and Facebook. I have someone who helps me now more permanently, Sam (she was a co-worker of mine at one of my full-time jobs and we became best friends). I have had so many of my friends help me dog sit when I was in a pinch and just needed hands to help out clients I have known for years (shout out to Sharon and Brandon). It has been SO appreciated. I cannot wait to see what my future holds with Auntie Cocos Furry Friend Care! Maybe, just maybe, one day this will become a full time, home-based operation 🙂

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not every day has been a smooth road, but I could not complain overall. The struggles I have had at this point are so irrelevant that I do not even remember them. I think my biggest obstacle and struggles were ramping up during the pandemic since everyone is now back in travel mode and needing help. I hope to build with a few more “Auntie Coco’s” (aka at home dog sitters) that can help me, but it is finding people who care just as much as I do that presents a challenge.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Auntie Coco’s Furry Friend Care is a pet sitting service where WE LOVE FLUFFY! Yes, “we love fluffy” is our tagline 🙂 and I will not lie, I am TERRIFIED of snakes or anything with scales. We mainly focus with dogs and cats and do overnights and drop-ins for pet owners that have busy travel schedules. We are different because we are not a franchise or a storefront, we are people that you work directly with that come to your home for your pet. That is something that makes us different. I love the individualized attention instead of just putting pets into crates for a few days. I want to be able to grow my team that more people like myself, that love fluffy animals, want to spend time with others pets. A big reason why I have not had my own pet is that I have been so dedicated to my friends (i.e., weddings) and other life events that pet sitting has given me more love from animals than I could even imagine. Please be sure to check us out on Instagram @auntiecocoscare and on Facebook at Auntie Coco’s Furry Friend Care to see all the amazing animals that have grown to be part of my family!

Any big plans?
My plans for growing Auntie Coco’s in the future is to grow my own team. I love the individualized attention instead of just putting pets into crates for a few days. I want to be able to grow with more people like myself that love fluffy animals, want to spend time with other’s pets and give them the love they deserve!
