Inspiring Conversations with Sonia Boatwright of USHealth Advisors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonia Boatwright.

Hi Sonia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve enjoyed two great careers in fashion buying and hospitality. My fashion career started in London during the late 1980’s. I worked for two amazing brands – French Connection and Pepe Jeans, and got the opportunity to live and travel all over the world including Hong Kong, Morocco, Tunisia, Amsterdam, Cairo and Guatemala. After completing a Business Administration MBA at the University of Surrey UK, I married my then fiancé, moved to St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands in late 2005. At this point, I welcomed the opportunity to change careers and moved into the amazing world of hospitality with Marriott International, focusing on group sales. The two back-to-back hurricanes during September 2017 severely damaged the Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort where I worked for over eight years. I made the decision to move to Florida, where I got involved in the 2018 merger of Starwood and Marriott Hotels led by the late Arne Sorenson – WOW!! What an incredible time that was to be part of the hospitality industry!! I remained in the hospitality sales world until March 2020. The combination of tragic family events and being furloughed as a result of the pandemic, triggered me to take a decisive look at my life goals for moving forward. So while the world was in lockdown, I decided to study, and obtained my license to practice health and life insurance in June 2020. I now focus on helping individuals, families and small businesses find affordable health coverage.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Focusing on my current career as a Health Insurance Advisor, without a doubt, the world of American health coverage can be complex to understand and navigate. I do my best to simplify and break down what various coverages entail to help clients can understand their options. This ultimately facilitates their choice in best health plan for their individual needs and their families. People want to know that they have good health coverage, however clarifying the many misconceptions associated with health insurance can be challenging. Starting with an explanation of how the Marketplace (also known as ACA and Obamacare) works is always a good place to start to help individuals make the best choice according to his/her needs.

That’s correct – USHEALTH Group will be participating in the ACA insurance exchange through UnitedHealthcare. Simply put, USHEALTH Group gets to help more individuals, families and small businesses find the best fit health coverage option!

Helping individuals, families and small businesses find the best affordable health coverage is all about people. If you like working with people, you’ll do great! People will always remember how you make them feel. Our clients and prospects lead full, constantly changing lives. Always be ready to be that “reliable go-to resource”; check-in with your clients from time to time – see how they’re doing – how can you help as their Health Insurance Advisor. Building lifelong relationships with clients is just as important as discipline and working SMART. Also, be sure to keep yourself in the know with updates in the world of health insurance coverage in order to best serve clients.
