Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Love.
Hi Rachel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started modeling 15 years ago, so I grew up in the fashion and beauty industry. I was thrown into this new world that I had no idea existed (this was before social media was a thing) and I fell hard. I took mental notes and asked tons of questions while I was on set, learning styling and makeup tips along the way. Fast forward to the beginning of the Instagram era, and a director at one of my agencies told me I needed to post something every single day. I thought, “who the hell cares about my life this much?” but I listened, and slowly, I started getting some interaction. I would share skincare secrets, what I was wearing to my castings, and before I knew it; I had a great community on my platform that I love sharing and connecting with.
I now consider myself a full-time blogger, sharing lifestyle tips and daily outfits on my platforms. I love helping women feel and look their best so I’m really lucky to be able to do something that I truly enjoy while making others feel great along the way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely! There was a time in my career when I struggled with my skin and weight, and my self-esteem was at an all-time low. My entire life and income revolved around my looks, so this was not an easy time for me. I was so unhappy with the way I looked, I didn’t even want to look in the mirror. As shallow as this all sounds, I share this because I want to let every reader know – young and old – if you are feeling this way, it will get better!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Growing up, my friends always introduced me as “Rachel, the model” and my response was always, “I’m not a model, I’m a regular person”. So I’m just a regular person, sharing daily outfits, beauty hacks and lifestyle tips, all in one place. I love showing you how I style one piece of clothing, multiple ways; or sharing where to place your blush for a lifted cheekbone effect. I think what sets me apart from the others is that I like to keep it real with you and you get to see not only the cute things but the not-so-cute real-life things as well.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Be honest! If you look up to someone in your industry, tell them! I’m sure they will be flattered and would love to help with any questions or guidance you may need.
