Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantè Berry.
Hi Shantè, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born on the beautiful island of Grand Cayman Islands. At a young age, my mother migrated my two older brothers and I to Florida for a better opportunity. I was raised in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton. My mother raised me to be driven, hard working and to never let fear block my blessings. My mother worked hard and sacrificed for her children to seek greatness. I graduated with my Master’s in Social Work in 2019 and I’m currently working as a Hospice Social Worker. I discovered by passion in crafting and party decoration when my close friend encouraged me not to sit on my gift, but to show the world and to watch the doors of opportunity open. I launched Knots and Blossoms in January 2020 and never regretted it since.
The word “Knots” stands for when people layout their ideas, design details and what they may want for their order or event and “Blossoms” means me putting everything together and bring their vision to life and more. Anytime there was an upcoming family event, I would always volunteer to be the one to decorate. Making things pretty come to life is my greatest pleasure. My mission for Knots and Blossoms is to bring joy and love through each of my handmade items and setups. I pride myself in making sure my work can speak for itself. When I’m not providing emotional support to my patients and family, I focusing on how to expand Knots and Blossoms. I pray for my business everyday and the support from my family and friends makes me want to continue elevating.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Reaching your true happiness and success if never smooth sailing. I grew to cherish each and every obstacles and challenges that come my way. With Knots and Blossoms, I never realized how many crafters there were. I was brand new to all these new crafting techniques and what it took to plan events. I found it nerve-racking to ask others questions. A lot of times, others would ignore my questions or show no interest in helping me. This didn’t discourage me but helped me grow to build what Knots and Blossoms is today. I’ve taught free classes and made myself available for others to come to me for help or advice.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Knots and Blossoms is all about creative, decorative and personalizing items for events such as birthday parties, anniversaries and many more. Knots and Blossoms creates a broad range of handmade custom pieces. The most satisfying part is knowing that my handmade pieces are given as a gift and brings a smile to someone’s face or seeing others’ reactions when walking into an event and seeing the beautiful setup. I am intentional in perfecting my work and showing not only the quality, but my passion in what I do. Knots and Blossoms is a registered LLC and not only specializes in customizing but also event decor such as party favors, small party set ups and balloon garlands. What sets me apart from others is the fact that my goal at the end of the day is to satisfy others and to also build a rapport from each of my clients.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned is to trust the journey honestly. It doesn’t matter what I have encountered while working towards my goals, I never stopped walking in my faith. I’ve worked with children and adolescents in my social work field and I’ve taught them to find their true passion. Know what your reasons are for waking up every day. What I do is therapeutic to me. It taught me to know how to balance my work and personal life and also taught me how to better myself in my creativity.
