Today we’d like to introduce you to Estefania Moly.
Hi Estefania, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I started to use my Instagram as a platform to actually get to as many people as possible was in 2018. Before that, I just had it for fun and didn’t think much about it. I constantly received positive messages from people with compliments and asking for my advice, and also negative comments from random people criticizing what I posted; so one day I thought, “why not use this platform to actually get to people and show them the reality of a human being?” my struggles, my ups and downs, with the goal of letting them know that they are not alone and that we all should support each other. In my case, I come from a pretty known family in Venezuela, and I was always judged and criticized by people who didn’t even know me; and I remember feeling less than everyone else because they compared me with my family; why wasn’t I tall, Why wasn’t I a singer or a professional model, they talked about how I looked next to my mom, and so on.
It was a lot of pressure, I went through difficult times without people noticing, and I always with my family’s support. Girls telling me how perfect I was, how perfect my life was, how perfect my body was, they told me how bad they feel with themselves because everything they saw on Instagram was perfect compared to them and the reality is that my life is far from perfect, but yet, everyone is this world is special and perfect the way they are; so how I was going to communicate this? So, I started to talk to each one of them privately and just telling them that it happened to me too, posting my everyday life, how I felt, always trying to show the positive side of my life without missing the reality of it. Mental health is something that a lot of people don’t see as an important topic, but it has everything to do with how we live our lives, how we eat, how we socialize, how we feel about ourselves, the confidence we have, and so many other things that are key to our progress, and we need to normalize it and talk about it as the important subject it is.
That is why I started to post and talked to people because social media could be great but really bad at the same time. Why? because if used properly, we can make a positive impact, but some people just use it to judge people behind a screen, without know the impact of those comments to this unique human being who is reading them. I would like to tell people the process I went through that made me grow when I was in my lowest, and one day, I will but hopefully in a LIVE or conference. This is how my life changes completely, from this point, without me knowing, my mind just became more aware of things I never thought about before, my veganism path started here by “accident”, the people I met was a plus to my life, the activities in my day to day were like oxygen to me, and I found myself in a way I didn’t before. That is why I share a bit of everything that can inspire others somehow because I don’t see the point to show a perfect life that doesn’t exist; everyone has bad days, or cry, or go through break downs and they won’t show it on social media, and they don’t have to, but this is a reminder to everyone out there that feels somehow less or constantly compare their life to others ‘that’s it’, it’s not real, it is just a 5% of their lives what they are showing or even less. So remember, be the very best version of yourself, and if you want to compare yourself with someone, do it with your own version from yesterday and try to be a better you tomorrow.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Of course not. Being body shamed was a big one to me, the social pressure of being 25 and not doing whatever we are ‘suppose’ to do with this age, and sharing that with my followers weren’t and it is not easy either, because not everyone is going to support you, but I understood with the time that they are not you, they don’t know you or your story, and whatever they say, we all have to live our lives however we feel like doing it, what make us happy because at the end of the day, no one else is going to live it for us, not them, not anyone.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Real Estate agent in Florida, I am a content creator in social media focused on health (mental health, daily habits and routines with a positive impact, my vegan recipes, consciousness and wellness, and so on), sustainable lifestyle, beauty, fashion.
I am proud of who I am, that I always choose to grow from every experience, good or bad. Right now, I do all those things because I love them all, but I am following a bigger dream, one that I don’t feel comfortable sharing right now, but when I achieve it, I’ll share it with you.
How do you think about happiness?
Drinking a cup of coffee on my balcony, breathing and just thinking how blessed I am to be alive and to be who I am right now. Those sudden moments that come to me randomly during the day, where I see how ‘simple’ things like walking on the street is blessed, or just looking at the sky, or eating; those moments make me happy. Helping people in any way makes me happy, and deciding every day to be happy, makes me happy because being happy is a choice.
