Life & Work with Jessica Rivas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Rivas.

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Thank you – excited, as well! Let’s start with a Blackberry phone camera – that was the first camera that I’d regularly photograph moments with. Anything that caught my eye – from building facades to interesting angles and shadows. The camera phone developed into DSLR camera gear + film cameras, which got me into learning and researching photography.

It was around my last year in high school when I’d attend events and photograph the vibe, the people, my friends – I continued photographing when I entered college/university but on a different scale. I built my site and freelanced in event coverages, lifestyle photography and worked on personal photoshoots with friends and family to expand my portfolio.

Fast forward 5-years, I’ve had the honor to work with art fairs, non-profit organizations, and incredible individuals in a variety of roles, including program and social media management, brand direction, and partner + sponsorship alignment for entities. Currently, I work on a range of creative services on a project-by-project basis.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Whether a smooth or bumpy road, what I believe matters most is the attitude and attention one has towards the situation(s). It’s a daily practice to maintain a professional discipline around both of those, yet it goes a long way when facing challenges. I admire resiliency.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in the visual arts – spanning from content creation (photography) to brand direction (consult brands on their social platforms and aesthetics). However, I also do event production, generate sponsorships/partnerships, and work as a brand ambassador for specific entities.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Large or small, I’m eternally grateful for all those who have been a part of this magical journey. For both creative and personal reasons, my family and friends receive major credit for where I am today.
