Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikima Johnson.
Hi Nikima, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up with 5 sisters I’ve always been so infatuated with beauty watching them get ready to go out was always a fun experience for me from the hair to the make up! They’ve always taught me to go after what I want because I was just all around talented with whatever I put my mind to. They have been my greatest inspiration in life itself. I Started doing makeup on my own in 2013 I would always practice on myself, my family, and friends and I would watch YouTube videos daily just to learn how to do basic makeup, It took me a few years to really get it right, because I wanted to become so good at it AND I DID!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It haven’t always been a smooth road, A few years later I had to really put myself out there more because there were already so many people that do GREAT makeup etc. and I wanted to be just as great. And I was a rookie so I had to step my game up! So I started to do makeup for literally $20-$45 just so I can at least get 1 client I figured if I took myself and my talent more seriously than people would too. So I started to do makeup in “Beauty Salons” and promote on social media as much as possible just to get my clientele up!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a makeup artist/mink eyelash extension tech. I Specialize in all makeup services as well as full body and facial waxing, and much more. I am known for “The girl who does the makeup and mink eyelash extensions”. Lol! I also sell beauty products like mink strip lashes, lash glue pens for easy lash application, natural color contact lenses, and also handmade bob wigs! I’m pretty much a (Jack of all trades) But Being humble, down to earth, and understanding sets me apart from other artists because I GET IT as a women we all go through life the same just a different day. “Houseuvbeauti” has always been a lifestyle…and will continue to grow because I love making women feel great about themselves inside and out.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I’ve learned that being or having a determined mindset will always get me where I want to be in life, along with consistency and dedication. If I believe in myself just as must as people say they do. Then I’ll be the greatest of the greats.
