Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Mojica.
Hi Diana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico until I was 12. We then moved to Connecticut where I lived for another 12 years before moving to Miami to finish university. During all those years I visited the Dominican Republic every summer with my family. I took my first trip without the family to Cancún, Mexico in 2014, then did a girl’s trip in March of 2015 to Miami. During the trip to Miami I realized I had a strong desire to pursue a career in the hospitality industry and switched majors to Travel and Tourism Hospitality Management which led to said degree from Johnson and Wale’s North Miami campus.
During my time in college I took multiple solo trips to places such as Seattle, San Diego, Houston, Ireland, Greece and others. I also started including my boyfriend on trips and we have now being to 9 countries together. My goal has always been to show others that travel is possible no matter your budget or where you come from. It can be scary but it is well worth it. I used to travel on a low budget during college and stayed in hostels, at hotels with my employee discount from a hotel chain, looked for error fares, etc. Anything to make it happen. I am now a flight attendant and get to travel both for work and for leisure.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth ride but life is not meant to be smooth. It’s the rough patches that really help you appreciate the journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been a travel blogger since before becoming a flight attendant. I love sharing tips, tricks and my experiences to help others make their dream trips happen. I share the food, the culture, the local life, activities from my trips to hopefully inspire you to want to visit a place that maybe you had not thought about. I love traveling on a budget to this day, which is why I call myself a budget traveler. Hopefully through my blog and insta posts, others can see that they too can go to the places I’ve been and do things I’ve done.
I like to think that I can be very relatable because I like to share my trips on the go, the good and the bad, the raw stories of a place. I love helping others realize that they can make their trip happen and my DMs are always for any questions.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I loved the summer family trips, being able to explore different parts of Dominican Republic with my parents every summer was the best.
