Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Menasche.
Hi Katherine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I graduated in 2011 from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. As soon as i graduated from pastry i wanted to be in the city working in an amazing 2 Michelin star restaurant. From there i worked in many different places in New York city, Las Vegas, Melbourne Australia and florida. I constantly wanted to work in amazing places where my creativity was constantly challenged. I went through a lot of challenges to get to were i am today from working in patisseries to restaurants and hotels. If it wasnt for getting laid off during the pandemic i dont know if i would be a business owner. This has taught me patience and to let go of many fears. Lucky to say my family has been very supportive through this process
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It would be too easy if there were no struggles in life right? But they do make you stronger. From being offered fake positions, to not being properly paid. To leaving a dream job for anyone out of fear of failure. But i wouldnt be here if it wasnt for all the bumps in the road
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My brand is fun. It brings creativity. I dont have a specific thing i specialize in because i have decided that in pastry you must be very well rounded in many things. I am most known for my Alfajores they are buttery crumbly cookies with with dulce de leche and i do it in another flavors as well. What sets me apart from others is that i dont give up when things go wrong i do it again. I say yes to everything even if i dont know how to do it but i learn. I would have to say my most proud thing about the brand is when i see my Aventura Farmers Market customers love the products or walk right back. I want the readers to know that my brand is passion that everything i do i give it my all and that my biggest satisfaction is my buyers.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would have to say never give up. If the door is locked go through the window if that doesnt work go through the chimney. All of this metaphorically speaking. Just never give up on your dreams.
