Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Schrader.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Owning my own business was never something I’d ever imagine myself doing for many reasons. One I’d never in my life see myself financially being able to afford it, and I also never imagined having the freedom to break away from corporate America. Back in June of 2019, with the support of my amazing boyfriend, I was able to quit my professional career in big advertising and break free from being insanely miserable from ad agency pressure, culture and all-around toxicity, head to Italy and follow my dreams of becoming a yoga/fitness instructor.
I then began teaching Yoga for about a year and a half until the pandemic hit and I quickly became petrified that my career in fitness was over and extremely worried I’d be out of a job and continue to lose time on making a career for myself.
It then dawned on myself and my number one supporter, my boyfriend Joe that it was time to utilize my creative talents and run, operate and create my own brand. 14k Italian gold has been near and dear to both of our families for years and it simply made sense. The birth of Fierce Jewelry co. came about in July of 2020 and officially launched live on October 21, 2020. It has been an insanely wild ride of very high highs and super low lows during a pandemic. It’s simply the beginning and I cannot wait to grow this little brand of mine!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
NO WAY! Running your own business is nothing shy of easy and isn’t always the most gratifying and rewarding experience. My boyfriend always says “you’re only as good as your last sale,” and it’s true. With such a strong marketing and advertising background, I truly know what it takes to build and operate a successful brand but boy do the tables turn when it’s your own creative ideas coming to life as well as your own pocket book funding those ideas.
I have been VERY fortunate to have a huge success in sales early on, but it’s beginning to flatten out and my mind at times really becomes burnt out quick. I have recently decided to hire the creative talent of a 100% female own marketing agency named Isla Luna to really support the growth and elevation of Fierce Jewelry co.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Fierce Jewelry co. is a 14k Italian Gold Jewelry brand that only believes in 100% pure 14k gold pieces. There are far too many plated, fake and low-quality jewelry brands out there selling their products for insanely high prices and producing a product that simply doesn’t equate the price.
Growing up in a low middle-class household, having luxury items was never really attainable for myself or family – because of that our number one mission at FJC is to always deliver luxury 14k gold at fair and affordable pricing. We take pride in skipping the insanely high brand markups in hopes we can deliver everyday luxury to as many people we possibly can without ever wavering in the quality of our line. Our entire line is ethically sourced, produced and crafted from our European and American partners and most importantly, it’s always pure, never plated gold.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Stop caring about others’ opinions. Take chances, Trust your gut. Learn how to fail with grace and get back up with motivation to be bigger and better.
