Inspiring Conversations with Toia Wallace of 9-5 Grind Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toia Wallace.

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today. You can include as little or as much detail as you’d like.
My journey began in the year 2012 when I moved to Florida from NYC. At that time, I had a little clarity about what I wanted to do and who I wanted to be. However, amidst those uncertain times, I discovered my love for the legal system and decided to pursue a degree in paralegal studies to nourish my newly-found passion.

During those years, I also got my Florida Notary License and started exploring possible career options as a notary public. Seeing my passion and interest in the field, my professor advised me to set up a mobile notary business and become a notary signing agent. Passionate yet still a little unclear, I decided to go ahead with my professor’s advice and attained a few certifications. Just a few months later, I was running my own clerical services business and assisting individuals with all things administrative, contracts, immigration, and photo ops.

At that point I knew, working 9 to 5 jobs wasn’t in my DNA. So, I decided to enroll in the BS Program in Business Management to master the art of entrepreneurship. During this, I also established my second business – An online store selling virgin hair extensions. I brought that business to fruition in four years, yet I still felt an unfilled void. I knew there was more to do and more to give. That’s when I started to think about offering business consultancy services to aspiring entrepreneurs and businesses.

In truth, consulting was not my original idea, but it was something I picked up along my entrepreneurial journey. Having established two successful businesses while pursuing higher education, I became known as an upcoming leading business consultant, and more and more people started seeking me and my services in search of direction. That is when I decided to consult full-time and began to direct them on the fastest track to entrepreneurial success.

After guiding aspiring entrepreneurs and business professionals for over three years, I decided to put my new passion a tag, and that is how “9-5 Grind Consulting” came about. At that time, I was running three distinct businesses simultaneously and while helping others do the same. To date, I have assisted over 75 individuals bring their ideas to fruition and build better lives through entrepreneurship.

Today, I serve as the founder/owner of 9-5 Grind Consulting, ASAP Clerical (Notary, Legal, Logistics, and Occupational) Services, and SGL Tribe Corporation. Besides this, I have also established a Spa, Professional Skin Care Line and a Drug Testing Center from the grounds up. All thanks to the grace of the almighty!

Obstacles/Challenges Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In truth, it has not been easy, yet thanks to the incredible mindset gifted to me by God, I did not allow hardship to hinder me. The success apparent to all came as a result of countless nights of prayer, talking to God, research and mental training. I devoted myself to the notion of continuous improvement and run three businesses, attend full-time college, and do everything a wife and a mother need to do to build a happy home.

I hold utmost praise to God, who granted me the strength needed to not just turn my life around but also help others do the same. Yes, there were times, I questioned and doubted myself, yet my faith always helped me come across victorious. No matter how hard it got, I knew every day count, and I have to use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, and be the person I aspire to be. To sum it up, the ride hasn’t been smooth though the power of faith always shrank the bumps along the way. God has never failed me, and even when I cannot feel his presence, he shows up and guides me.
