Meet Deux Visages

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deux Visages.

Deux Visages is a band that was formed by drummer Antoine Lappin. Antoine reached out to lead singer, Daphney Hanono and from there bassist, Tyler Roberts and guitarist Michael Del Valle joined the now four-piece. Since then, the band has practiced in a small garage in West Kendall. Deux Visages started off by playing local shows in venues such as Tea and Poets before the pandemic hit. With the pandemic halting local shows, the band decided to lock themselves in their garage and produce their debut EP, “From the Altar”. After the release, the band took a hiatus from releasing music, focusing on socially distanced shows at local venues. Since then, Deux Visages took the production of their music to another level and started recording their newest single, “Phases”, at Sound Artillery Studio. Their newest single follows the feelings that young adults encounter of not yet growing up but burgeoning out of old spaces. “Phases” is set to be released June 5th, as the bands come back.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road isn’t always smooth, with obstacles such as contradicting ideas and the global pandemic. Before the pandemic, Deux Visages was booked to play shows for upcoming months, allowing the band to showcase their music to new people. Throughout the pandemic, the band struggled but ultimately decided to record music and make the most of their time. Throughout the process of recording the EP, the band would face challenges such as contradicting ideas but what they’ve learned from it is that there’s always a middle ground that can be attained.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Deux Visages is an Alternative rock band from South Florida. They’re a four-piece set which includes: lead singer Daphney Hanono, drummer Antoine Lappin, bassist Tyler Roberts, and guitarist Michael Del Valle. The band is most proud of their upcoming single “Phases” which elaborates on the feeling of displacement in young adults. What sets Deux Visages apart from others is that they implement a mix of newer alternative rock styles and sounds from shoegaze and grunge music.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Tyler Roberts (bassist): Watching documentaries on self-made people really helps out. The documentary that comes to mind would definitely be “Watch me Jumpstart” by guided by voices and “Gonzo”, a documentary on Hunter S. Thompson.

Michael Del Valle (guitarist): Apps that have helped me would definitely be Garageband. In terms of other resources, watching my favorite bands play live such as Car Seat Headrest and Modest Mouse really helps out.

Daphney Hanono (Lead Singer): As stupid as it sounds, I really enjoy the “Twilight Books’. As for other resources, watching bands such as The Talking Heads, No Doubt, Paramore, and Mitski, really inspires me.

Antoine Lappin (drummer): Listening to music really inspires me. I adapt a lot of drumming styles from bands that I listen to, such as Metallica and The Cranberries.
