Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrice Purnell.
Hi Patrice, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started modeling in 2013 in Jackson, MS as a plus model for various shows around the city. I moved to Baton Rouge in September 2015, as I was looking to expand as a model and audition for different show around the city, I met a woman whom was producing a show and saw a little bit more than me than I saw in myself. At this point, I’m hired to coach the show instead of being a model and that’s how my career began as a model coach.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was not a smooth road; when you start a new journey, you have others around you that doesn’t always see the bigger picture. So you had the ones that were closest to me that didn’t believe in me or what I was doing. Also, there are the ones that claim they want to support you but then they don’t want to pay your prices or expect you to do things for free and it doesn’t work that way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a model coach, I specialize in training models, I teach them different techniques to uphold themselves as a model, such as runway, posing, turns, and print.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as being consistent and pressing forward; you will always learn & success will draw to you because of your persistence.
