Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyra Albarracin.
Hi Kyra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I often wondered what I was passionate about that I hadn’t yet explored. Five years ago, my interests suddenly pivoted to plants. I started by buying plants at local nurseries to decorate my home and then was introduced to Isaac Farms. This magical place is where I found my new passion.
I fell in love with succulents and cactus immediately. Something about their beauty brought me happiness and tranquility. I was inspired by their collection and arrangements and started creating my own masterpieces at home that I’d share with friends and family.
Before the pandemic, you’d typically find me traveling around the world. With more time on my hands, I found myself exploring home projects and beautifying my spaces with greenery. I suddenly had extra time on my hands to explore how to create moss wall art, wreaths, terrariums and styling plants. It was a no-brainer, I knew there was a calling for me and I jumped in and haven’t looked back. I started with a simple Instagram page and today I am working on my content for my website and attending pop-up events around Miami. Sometimes when it’s meant to be your time, there is no stopping it!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been an amazing journey so far. Because of the pandemic, many people turned to plants for therapy, for their beauty and because people found time to appreciate the beautiful things around them. The only challenge was getting my brand noticed in a world that was on lockdown. But perhaps it was always meant to be this way. Sometime you have to just trust the process and be nimble.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a digital project manager by day, a world traveler quarterly and a dog mom by night. I have been working for my digital agency for over a decade now. My career can sometimes be stressful so I turned to traveling as one of my outlets. Last I checked I think I have been to 18 countries and counting!
I definitely get my planning and organizational habits from work which comes in handy when it comes to building a small business. Perhaps this is how it was always meant to be… learn the trade, become an expert and then apply it to your own empire!
I am also a dog mom – well, actually a dog “tia” (aunt). He is a 5-year-old rambunctious French bulldog that I baby like my child. He has taught me love and patience. I am an Aries, so by nature, I am passionate and fiery! I am extremely hard-working and meticulous. I often get told that you can tell who I am by the way I style my event table and how every arrangement is perfectly thought out. This always brings a huge smile to my face. I try my best to aim for quality arrangements with personal touches.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I have to admit that the pandemic did well for me. I struggled in the past with mild depression. Through counseling and applying what I have learned, it has helped me find a piece of myself that I am falling in love with on a daily and I can’t wait to continue exploring this journey.
