Hi Jessica, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
Hi loves, my name is Jessica Delilah, I am a 28 year old Miami native. I take pride in sharing with people I am a South Florida Freelance Hairstylist who is passionate about beauty, fashion, education & philanthropy. In 2017 while attending Barry University as a Dance major with an Education minor, I was hit with a situation that was beyond my control and had to put pursuing my Bachelor’s degree on hold, i was devastated. This is when I wasn’t to sure what to do but always new since I was 12 years old I can do hair and truly enjoyed it and make a living. I took that previous loss and used it to fuel my ambition and determination as well as the support of my family and decided to attend beauty school. My drive and dedication allowed me to finish in less then 10 months. I had completed all my hours to graduate, successfully passing my state board and becoming a Florida Licensed Cosmetologist. Fast forward to 2019, I had the biggest year ever going into early 2020, booking out weddings for bridal hair, hairstyles for local influencers and even managed to find my niche and start providing hair extensions services. Prior to COVID I had plans on branching out to my own beauty studio and gaining a larger clientele but when the pandemic hit, I had to reinvent myself, I started engaging more with my followers on Instagram and reviewing hair extensions and demonstrating different hairstyles to draw in an audience. Soon enough followers where asking if I was selling the hair! This is when I realized I could start selling hair extensions online to make up for all the lost time through the pandemic. It was truly eye opening and has made me realize how much I enjoy creating content and sharing me knowledge of hair and beauty with my followers. I hope to continue selling hair on a bigger scale and look forward to creating more content for my followers, while expanding my craft and planning to transition into my own beauty studio. Im excited to see what 2021 has in store and truly believe that with God, family and dedication I will reach my goals! 2021 has already kicked off amazing and I can’t wait for more!

What is a day in the life of Jessica Delilah like?
A typical day with me starts with prayer and affirmations, assuring myself everything I will do throughout my day is for me and has already been set in the universe all I have to do is believe and stay grounded. I make sure to make my coffee to wake me up then I grab my Mac and start reading emails from client inquiries and responding to direct messages on Instagram. I take some time to look over social media and check what’s trending and what important topics I can repost and share awareness and or support, I usually will then make a list of content I wish to create for the following month to promote my business in hopes of gaining more traffic on my page for clients to book! After this I always call my little sister who now has a new 8 month old baby girl who I adore so much and can’t go a day without face timing her in the mornings, I am a proud auntie thanks to my sister! In the afternoons, I usually call my aunt and discuss some of my new business venture ideas for pointers. I make time for a jog and walk my dogs then it’s time to take clients. I often start my hairstylist day later and provide my clients with blowouts, hair extensions installs and bridal trials throughout the week. I finish my day with dinner with family and always look forward to sharing how my day went with my mother and father who are always supportive. My days are long but worth it!

What tips would you give for achieving the “SOFLO BOMBSHELL” hair look? And what do you definitely need to have for finalizing this hair look?
Best tip is to make sure to always have hairspray, rollers, pins, and a good blowdryer. My first pick is always my “DYSON” hair dryer with my go to “Triple Sec” by Drybar. This volumizing spray you add to every section as you blowout each piece of hair away from the face and don’t forget to pin up in rollers for the right bounce! Once you drop these sections and give it a final spray of Triple Sec, you will have the best South Florida Bombshell Blowout! Bouncy, shiny and sexy!

Who or what has been your most memorable client/moment thus far in your hairstylist journey?
My most memorable moment hands down has to be my first all pink beauty bar I was invited to host at PRETTY LITTLE THINGS Miami showroom for SUPER BOWL week 2020! This event was so dope, I was able to meet and provide fun hairstyles for many Wives and Girlfriends of the professional athletes in the Super Bowl and NFL. I came across a bunch of different local influencers from models to singers that I was also able to network and do fun hairstyles on that day. It was a great experience and a super great networking moment for me. Till this day I still have clients I service from meeting them at this event turning them into long term clients of mine.

Who inspires you and continues to inspire you, in your career?
My family really sets the tone for me, I want to make it and make more than 6 figures in this industry to provide for my family. They are the true inspiration behind what I do and why I do it. I also take notes from a few hair goats in the industry people like Ming Lee owner of Snobb Mobb and Chris Appleton celebrity hairstylist for Jennifer Lopez, both are very successful in the industry and are in places I strive to be in the future.

What side of the hair industry do you wish to transition into?
Ahhhhhhhh! CELEBRITY HAIRSTYLIST! I am truly truly working on more networking in hopes of coming across a celebrity in Miami and glamming them up! I know it’s coming, I can feel it! I would love to transition into the Celebrity Hairstyling world for sure!
