Today, we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian Castro. Sebastian was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Collette Dunhill.
Sebastian, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
I started doing makeup because I wanted to be a drag queen, but as son as I started playing with all the shadows and eyeliners I completely felt in love with how infinite and amazing is all the makeup world. At the beginning was a little hard because coming from a country as mine (Colombia) a boy wearing or doing makeup is something that the people is not as used as here in America but I confronted everything and everyone because that’s what I wanted to do and actually love so I keep thriving and practicing and learning and all of that is what got me here today!
Of course I have a lot more to learn but I’m really happy of what I’ve achieved until now and waiting for the days to come!
Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
I’ve been doing makeup for about 4 years now, and even though I learned from YouTube and all this tutorials from influencers and everything my style is completely different since I’m actually and architect so all the makeup I really love and enjoy doing is more like graphic, eyeliners, shapes, precision and all of that also I love a natural glowy finish on the skin so that’s what really separate me from other artists. What I love the most about my job is getting to know different people and artists, specially here in New York because we have people from all over the world, so everyone use their culture or their backgrounds looking for inspiration and explode all this creativity inside ourselves and that’s just amazing!
As you know, we’re big fans of Collette Dunhill and we know you’ve worked with them quite a bit as well. We’d love to hear about your experience working with Collette Dunhill.
Collette is amazing, as a person and as a professional, I really enjoy working with her, specially because everyday I get to learn something new. I discovered them via Facebook, I was scrolling and on my suggestions she just popped out so I went into her page and saw her work and also saw that she was looking for a personal assistant so I just went for it and send her my Instagram page as my portfolio and the rest is history since I’m here!
She is a really good professional and a hard working woman, that’s why I admire and look up for her, so if you ever get to work with her o be her client just expect amazing results!
