Meet Kevin Rostran of Rostran Design Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Rostran.

Hi Kevin, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a passion for art and anything creative. This led me to pursue a career in graphic design. I attended The Art Institute in Downtown Miami for about a year before I dropped out. I decided to start working and gain my experience that way. I worked for various print shops where I learned a lot about designing for print. Later in my career an opportunity arose to be the lead graphic designer for my church. Throughout the about ten years I was working for other companies I was always booking side projects for extra income and for the opportunity to have more creative freedom. I always had the dream of one day opening my own company where I could work one on one with my clients to help them achieve their desired branding. Recently in 2020, during a global pandemic, I decided to go full time with design company Rostran Design Co.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There was a lot of failure as part of my learning. You don’t always get things right the first time but I never gave up and took every failure as a learning opportunity. I believe all those failures have made me the designer I am today. A big obstacle more recently was making the decision to take the leap of faith and go full time with my company. At this point in my career I have more responsibilities and was always worried about leaving the security of my 9-5. It was a battle of feeling comfortable and safe at my current job vs. the uncertainty of running your own business. In the end I took the leap of faith and have been loving it ever since.

We’ve been impressed with Rostran Design Co., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own and run a design company alongside my wife. We specialize in brand identity. We work with either new startup companies who are in need of completely new branding to identify themself or with established companies looking to refresh or upgrade their current image. We run or design studio in a boutique style. We only work on one project at a time allowing for a one on one service to our clients while we work on their project. I find it very important to make sure I can give every client 100 percent. We approach every project as if we were a part of their team. We enjoy design and branding so much because with every client comes a new challenge, a different opportunity to stretch our creativity. Every client is different and unique and you really have to get to know and understand them to give them the best outcome. We like to create an atmosphere of approachability in our business. We really want our clients to feel like we’re creating a relationship and that we are truly invested in the time we spend working together. We play such an important part for many companies and to create something so personal we have to make it important to make it about the people. Brand wise, I am most proud of the opportunity to be a part of other companies’ journey and providing them with design that they truly love and feel represents them best. We want readers to know that Rostran Design Co. loves what they do and finds value in getting to know their clients to be able to provide unique and genuine design to their clients.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think the graphic design industry will become more and more necessary as social media and culture in general is always demanding a more visually appealing approach. Graphic design sells, attracts and engages which are all things necessary for companies to attract their target audience.
