Rising Stars: Meet Susie Jetta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susie Jetta.

Hi Susie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been a photographer and director since I was nine years old and I got my first paid photography gigs at 13. I then started to do make up at 16 and started charging girls in my school for beauty photoshoots. I moved to Florida after high school, attended beauty school, met a lot of people in the beauty industry as a make-up artist and photographer, and became a beauty school drop out when I was 20. I started bartending to supplement income but it led me down a dark path. It wasn’t until 2017 that I got out of bartending and truly began to heal. My work started to flourish. Instead of bartending, I started working with kids and was able to enjoy my craft with zero stress again. I was born to be a photographer and highlight people’s beauty and authenticity. I have over 17+ years of experience with Swim Editorial Beauty Fitness Lifestyle Music Photojournalism make up, photography, creative direction, and styling.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I suffered with abusing substances in my early 20’s and then it turned into an eating disorder. I am 28 years old now and can finally say I have totally healed mentally and physically. I had to relearn who I was and re-evaluate what wasn’t working for me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of my ability to work with both professional models and regular everyday people and make them look equally as beautiful. My niche is making people feel happy and comfortable and then capturing it. I love the natural world just as much as I love over the top glitz and glam. It’s a balance that I believe makes me unique. I appreciate beings from all walks of life as long as they are making a positive impact.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mom and dad always allowed me to be my authentic, crazy self as long as I was working hard, helping others, and staying true to myself. I also have an incredible group of professional, genius, kind, and beautiful women around me.
