Hidden Gems: Meet Alexia Aguilar of Jade Marketing & Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexia Aguilar.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up, I always knew that helping others was a calling of mine. Like most of us finishing high school, I was not sure what career I wanted to pursue. I had always looked up to my sister and so I decided to study Public Relations and Marketing as she did. I then began interning in the industry of luxury goods. My first internship was with LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) and then completed two more internships at Cartier and Chopard. Not only do I love to be the creative mind behind sales but I also very much enjoy meeting clients, event planning, marketing strategy, and helping the brands grow. After completing my internship at Chopard, I then moved my way up from a Public Relations and Marketing Assistant, to Coordinator, to Jr. Marketing Manager of the Americas. Not only was this position extremely rewarding but I also gained so much knowledge and experience.

After some time in this position, I knew I wanted to do more; I wanted to help small businesses grow. I knew leaving everything I had worked so hard for up until this point was going to be a very tough decision, but I took a chance. January 2020, I decided to quit my job and to begin consulting. At the time, I also completed a Professional Certification in Digital Marketing with the University of Miami. During this period of time, we experienced one of the craziest moments in our lives, COVID-19. I was blessed enough to continue to work for my clients and still have business. Today, I am the proud owner of Jade Marketing and Events – A creative agency helping brands evolve through purpose driven strategy, design and digital magic.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every successful individual has experienced failures. I believe that without failures there are no lessons in which you can grow and learn. Leaving the luxury industry which I had been in for so long was such a risk and I was fearful. I had no idea if I would get clients to consult for. Many people told me to never leave a job without having another job in place but I didn’t listen to those negative ideas. I stuck to what I wanted to do and most importantly, I believed in myself. Still, there are days I am frustrated, other days I fail, but most importantly I learn. I will never let fears and failure stop me from reaching my dreams and goals.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am the proud owner of Jade Marketing and Events. We are a creative agency helping brands evolve through purpose driven strategy, design and digital magic. We offer an array of services from brand development, content creation, digital marketing strategies, event planning and social media management. We work with clients in numerous different industries.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Drop all your fears, put yourself out there, and most importantly believe in yourself. Train yourself to learn something new every day. Even if you think you’re not ready to start something go ahead and attempt it. What has worked best for me is creating relationships. Relationships are everything especially within the same industry. It is almost guaranteed that you will run in to someone from your past if you are in the same industry.
