Today we’d like to introduce you to Shemaiah Williams.
Hi Shemaiah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2017, three things changed my life for the better; I graduated from Barry University with a Master degree in Organizational Learning and Leadership, I gave birth to my fourth child and I quit my job as a legal secretary. These three life changing events gave me the extra motivation that I needed to be where I am today and prepared me for my future as an entrepreneur. After graduation, I started to look for employment in the HR field and that became a challenge itself and I became discourage after apply to a million jobs and going on thousands of interviews and not getting hired it became exhausted.
I ended up working for the school board as a reading interventionist and during the summer instead of looking for a job I made the decision to create my own job, to use my knowledge, skills and abilities to help others and provide for my family. A former co-worker of mines (Sherita owner of Extraordinary Taxes & Business Services, LLC) posted on social media a notary public & loan signing agent class that she taught. I signed up, researched and started my entrepreneurship journey as a notary/loan signing agent and now a mom blogger (www.mommypreneurlifestyle.com). I’ve been in business for about three years, I love what I do and I’m excited about my future as an entrepreneur, passing along generational wealth & knowledge and growing my businesses to its full potential.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, not a smooth road at all. When I first started my business in 2018, I had no idea about running a business. In my mind it was a little side hustle to make extra cash. As I started to read, joined Facebook groups in my niche, pay for courses and even got a mentor to assist me I started to treat my side hustle as a business and that was when I put in a lot of hard work, time and being consistent with growing my business and gaining knowledge.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Scorpion Notary Services, our mission is to provide professional, convenient and affordable notary services where and when you need it for individuals and businesses. We provide services for Services: Court documents, Real Estate documents, Marriage Ceremony, Power of Attorney, School & Athletic forms, Administering Oaths, I9 verification, Merchant Site Inspections and more…. Last month I opened an Esty Shop that provides real estate digital products that can be display in office and social media templates. We also provide notary journals, and t-shirts on Amazon (Scorpion Notary Tees). Currently, in the process to become a government contractor and expand my business further than notary services.
