Hidden Gems: Meet Samara Reece of Mara’s Beaute

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samara Reece.

Hi Samara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory
When I first started my business, I started by selling eyelashes. Sales were slow and I wasn’t very motivated to continue my business. I knew that then, selling eyelashes was not my passion. I always had a love for hair extensions and styling hair, so out of curiosity, I decided to do my research and find a few wholesale companies that provide hair. I took a chance and ordered a few hair extensions from them. I was in love with what I saw, and I got the idea that I can sell hair. Starting my hair business was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. I made 100k in sales in just my first six months of selling hair. Because of my business, I’m able to depend on just my business as a source of income, and have flexibility to be a full time student. I give God thanks for never letting me give up on myself, even when I saw no hope. I’ve accomplished so much in only a year, and I’m excited to see where this road takes me.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting my business definitely was hard at first, and even till this day I do face my own challenges with my business. It’s a learning process and a lot of trial and error. You want to find the perfect quality product, and this doesn’t always come easy. A few struggles I’ve faced when starting my business was blowing through a lot of money on products that were defected and I couldn’t sell these to my customers. Finally, of course I did find the perfect vendor, it did take time, but it was totally worth it in the end. It was a huge learning process for me, and I can say that if I didn’t take the loses, I took, I wouldn’t know as much about hair, what’s good, and what’s not, as I do now.

We’ve been impressed with Mara’s Beaute, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My brand is located in Fort Lauderdale, and I do plan on expanding. I specialize in hair extensions and business mentoring. I sell wigs, hair bundles, frontals, I mentor, and do website design for other upcoming boutique businesses! Something I know sets me aside from others is my passion. I go hard for my customers, because without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I like to get down to the bottom of the issue, if there is one, and do everything capable to ensure my customers are satisfied at the end of the day. This is more than profit to me, it’s my dream and passion, and I’m so grateful and humble to even have come this far, and in God’s willing, I will take my business further.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
If it wasn’t for my mother, best friend Jasenia, and my partner Dru, I may have given up a long time ago. Days where everything was going wrong, or I felt like losing hope, I had these three people to always remind me why I started, and how much further I can go if I don’t give up. My mom for the most part, has been a huge blessing to my business. She helps me manage my sales, mentors me, and always reminds me that I’m the only one that can hold me back.
