Meet Mor Haim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mor Haim.

Mor, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My love story with fitness and health started at a very young age as an avid ballet dancer.

Coming from the dance world, where self-expression and creativity were the norm, I quite frankly found working out to be boring. The fixed movements seemed too dull for me.

It wasn’t until I tried Pilates in 2004 that I realized for the first time that the fitness and the dance worlds can beautifully merge together. The dance-based fitness concepts of Pilates opened my eyes the truth. Fitness, flow and creativity can exist in the same space.

With this new understanding, I was more inspired to create training and movement sequences that not only got me fit but were functional, had the creative flow that I craved and were also fun. Some of these workouts you can find on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/MorHaim/

One of my favorite way to apply this flow and creativity is in the water! The aqua workout is a whole other experience, I started teaching Aqua pilates back in 2010, and when I moved to Florida in 2013, I realized this is THE place for sharing this magical aquatic experience. Especially nowadays, in this pandemic situation, we should take advantage of all the pools we have everywhere here. Being outdoor, breathing fresh air… strengthening our muscles, stretching and relaxing…

I recently created a bundle of 3 aqua workouts; Barre, Pilates and Stretch you can take a look here: https://mstudio.vhx.tv/products/aqua-pilates-barre-stretch

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey into fitness came with many challenges…

Long workdays of teaching combined with my own dance practice started to take its toll on my body and health.

My schedule became so exhausting that I eventually developed adrenal fatigue. In other words, my body started to run out of gas. Feeling like this every day was not an option for me so I began to research, study and apply what I learned to make the necessary changes to my diet, exercise and stress levels to begin to heal my body.

Some of the lifestyle changes that worked for me were…

* Yoga and meditation helped to quickly reduce my stress levels and bring energy back into my body.
* Learning to eat the right foods for my body and what food to avoid.
* Adjusting my training and workload around my hormone cycles to avoid burnout.
* Eliminating any toxic chemicals in my home environment such as cleaning and personal care products (toothpaste, shampoos, lotions, dish and laundry soaps)
* I became more aware of who I interacted with and made a choice to surround myself with positive people.

These things are what have allowed me to heal myself in a way that is sustainable for the rest of my life. This is my journey into holistic health and healing that I now also share with my clients and students.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I mainly work with women (pre and post-natal, premenopausal, postmenopausal) offering a holistic exercise and health coaching.

I’m not in the position of a “workout buddy” to count reps for them… I actually help these women to make lifestyle changes and embrace new and healthier habits. I educate them so they also know the “why” and not just the “How”, and empowering them to feel confident and strong both physically and mentally. I also have a great network of Doctors and other professionals that I refer to whenever I recognize a need.

Many of my clients are also referred to me by their PT’s or massage therapists to help them with the rehabilitation phase. Working on their posture, alignment, mobility and flexibility are usually what we focus on at the beginning before loading the muscles with weights.

I now offer 12-week one-on-one coaching program. It can be done also online. More info about this program is on my website: coachmor.com

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Thankfully, I have many good childhood memories, but these days I mostly reminiscing on holidays where all family, including grandparents and cousins… were all together around the table…. laughing, singing, praying, eating… I really cherish those times!
