Meet Jonathan Laurenceau of BiiG Geech in North Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Laurenceau.

Jonathan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
At this point, I feel like I’ve been doing music all my life. My earliest memory, I would say would be me in like 6-7-8 grade being in the back of the class with the boys just freestyling all class. Through those years, I think it’s when I told myself man lemme take this music stuff series I might legit have a gift here. So high school comes around, shout out to North Miami Senior High, and eventually I start a group with a couple of my friends called S.O.P. It would literally be like 10 of us after school in my living room recording songs. It taught me so much especially helping build other artists get comfortable with the art which really ended building who I was at the same time. Unfortunately, the group breaks up I can’t even remember why but fast forward maybe a year or two of high school and I partner up with @kingsmurfx on IG and we do a couple of songs together.

We had a good vibe then it was like out of nowhere, we started Take Flight Ent. Together. He already had the LLC we just began pushing ourselves more as a group than singular artist while also bringing people in. Crazy cause at this point this is the first time I’m really putting my music out there like that Via SoundCloud, https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/tvTHNzZsnqMUNsQS8. On this page has a lot of the music we worked on together as a collective, the songs were getting some decent traction for someone who didn’t understand the business aspect of music yet so we decided to look for our first show. We partnered up with Afton and did our first show, the whole gang pulled up with TakeFlight Hoodies and Sweaters we grabbed everyone’s attention soon as we walked in the building. When it was finally our time to perform and man, I was nervous but as soon as the songs started playing it was like second nature next thing you know, the crowd screaming for an encore.

Still till this day, one of my best moments I have being an artist. It’s crazy tho cause we ended up falling apart… everyone pretty much going fully solo, and in the span of the next bout three years, I lost like two different computers that I was holding all my music in and it really killed my spirit. I felt like I gave up after that I didn’t do any music for a while but the opportunities kept chasing me so I decided to dedicate myself in getting back into music and doing it the right way. Started linking with producers like @Whomadethat @Chozenuno @Awon_sense and @blackmondon4700 and they helped me get back on the grind next thing I remember, I’m in the studio every weekend with @imcharm3r working on “NM II NMB” https://music.apple.com/us/album/nm-ii-nmb-feat-biig-geech-ep/1508702326.

Couple performances later, couple trips to Atl, performing for QC lead is to my current manager and team @tremuurmusic. After proving enough for chef to take the flyer on me signing and help me grow in this industry, we been working nonstop continually challenging me to get better and the music we have coming for you guys is a testament of that. I’m excited for all we have coming cause it’s a lot. I just hope you guys will be as ready as we are right now. https://unitedmasters.com/biig-geech

Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, there was obstacles like being young not having the best equipment to record but we were so dedicated we worked with whatever we could get our hands-on. I remember we used to record with the little headset microphone that you would use in your computer class… quality was horrible and we never cared, lol. I lost two computers that had 2,3 maybe even four projects worth of songs on them completely gone. Fighting myself for years because with life and what not I lost track of being an artist was so focused trying to help my family, I wasn’t helping myself.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m an artist, rapper, songwriter, producer, engineer, photographer, gamer, content creator. Well right now, I’m working on starting something fresh for myself, in the past I got put into situations and started repping that but never really built something for myself but I will be changing that shortly everything is on the works right now but it will always be Tremuur for life. What I’m most proud of right now of my company is that I never gave up, never gave up on my ability to produce good music, and I will never give up.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
That’s easy the best thing about Miami is weather. Almost every day is nice and sunny which means everyday there’s opportunity to prosper people are always out getting things done. What I dislike the most to me is the lack of unity here man. So much talent down here n it’s like no one supports one another unless you’re in the circle. It’s mad trash if you got talent n I like your music ima support it’s that’s simple but not gonna be here supporting whack rappers just cause you got some clout.
