Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Webb.
Born in Detroit and baptized in the high fashion supermodel world of the 90’s Veronica Webb came to fame as the first African-American to win an exclusive cosmetics contract with Revlon. Building on her success as a model, Veronica went on to act in films such as Jungle Fever and Malcolm X going on to co-host Time Gunn’s ‘Guide to Style ” on Bravo TV. Today, Webb continues as a trending figure with her pro-aging blog “WebbOnTheFly”.
Webb’s motto: “Own Your Age. Own Your Beauty. Own Your Power” is focused on helping women harness the strength and wisdom that can only be acquired with age and experience. No stranger to traveling the globe, Webb loves Miami from her early days as shooting for Vogue or modeling for the late Giani Versace on South Beach – Webb continues to make Miami a second home. ‘There’s nothing like the cultural mix and energy of Miami! Miami is a city that always sets my imagination on fire.”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Business is problem-solving – if you don’t know how to turn a “No” into a “Yes”, it’s really tough to be an entrepreneur. When I went to Paris to become a model, I couldn’t speak the language – I learned. When I began a career as a writer and television contributor, I didn’t have the skill set – but I worked on it.” Webb says in her usually cheerful but resolute fashion. “My mother always used to say, ‘It’s never too late to learn something, try something and become something.” Truly, words to live by.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
As the creator of Webb On The Fly, Veronica brings 30 plus years of experience in fashion beauty and being an independent businesswoman to the table. Lifting the curtain on what it takes to master all of the above, this 55year old model, mother, wife and entrepreneur gives it to you straight declaring, “effortless is bullshit!” Webb knows first hand that it takes a lot to build healthy strength and wealth and look good while you’re doing it and would never pretend otherwise. She does the dirty work to cut through wasting time and money so that you don’t have to.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
With her last two kids headed off to college in the next 18 months, Webb plans to resettle in Miami full time and build a permanent base of operations for her blog and bring her fashion expertise to the team at United Shades, a fashion mentoring program started by world-renowned Miami-based fashion photographer Danny Cardozo.
