Today we’d like to introduce you to Eliana Ghen.
Eliana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in South Florida and raised all over the world. I lived in Africa, Belize, Mexico, and Israel. I was homeschooled my whole life because my parents are doctors and researchers, and we lived in all of those places as they tried to find the cure for many diseases. I knew I always wanted to be in the arts since I was a little girl. My first play I ever did was in Africa and I fell in love immediately. When we got back to the states, at the age of 15, I started children’s theater in Boca Raton at a place called Showtime. Since then, I have been training to be an actor and I have not stopped training since then. I went to the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts to study acting. It was the most amazing experience I had in my growth as an actor. After, I moved to Atlanta and signed with Innovative Artists in Los Angeles and Alexander White Agency in Atlanta. I booked the Netflix show called “Insatiable,” where I had the honor of playing Corrie in Episode 5. I was also in Camila Cabello’s music video, “Beautiful,” with my husband, where we were hired as dancers since we both are also professional dancers.
This business can be very tough to break into and I got very tired of the constant not hearing back from auditions, so I decided to take matters into my own hands by starting and owning my own production company, ME Pictures, LLC. Since then, I have created many projects and I have more projects in the works now. I also started growing my social media because I know that it helps production in being able to bring more eyes to your project while doing all of this out of my apartment in North Miami.
Since I started growing my social media, I also joined TikTok, and within a few months, I grew a following of 2.7 million people. I changed the way “acting” was done on the platform. I am the creator of the “Blue Line” acting challenges. Since I started that trend, my page blew up and I was able to make a change in the app with acting. Before started the actin challenges, acting on the app was something called “POV” acting, which is more in the style of music video acting where people don’t use their voice. Since I started the Blue Line Acting Challenge, now the app is a very different world when it comes to acting, and people are using their voice more than ever.
It’s amazing how many people I have helped just by creating my acting challenges and acting tip videos. People that were going through really hard times during COVID-19, and in their lives, had my acting challenges to help them get through it. I continue to create acting content and duets, and I am now working on what is next for the world of TikTok and for my career as an actor, artist, filmmaker, and creator.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have probably auditioned more than 1,000 times and most of them are always a no. Besides for trying to “make it” in the industry as an actor growing on social media is a full-time job as well. The first few months, I was trying to figure out what to do, sometimes there would be days I would want to quit because I would be posting around six times a day and NOTHING was taking off. What kept me going was relationships, integrity, and accountability. My husband always had me keep pushing no matter how many times I would want to quit. I think it’s important to surround yourself with people who want you to reach your goal as much as you do, then also to give those people permission to push you and allow them to do whatever they need to do so you don’t give up. It’s not a one person journey, it’s a voyage of many.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am known for my acting. That is how I started. There was always something inside me that wanted to become a producer so that I can be the person that gives the jobs to others. So then I decided to create a production company. My production company is called ME Pictures, LLC. I am working on a project with the goal of getting short-form media platforms to take and distribute the project. I am also working on some feature films that are in development. What separates me from a lot of people that are trying to do the same thing is the social media following that I have grown within the last couple of months. I think when you are waiting for someone to give you a job, it takes a lot longer, but when you take action, you are in charge of your destiny. That is what I am doing now. That is what I want people to be inspired to do — take action of the destiny of their life.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I always think the key to success is giving your word to something and then having integrity with your word. If you have a commitment and then you keep the integrity, the only way to go is forward, which would lead to success. Also, it’s important to realize you are in charge of your destiny and you should not be afraid to try different things.
