Today we’d like to introduce you to Noa Jay.
Noa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started about three years ago. I lost someone who had a huge impact on my life, my late father, Jean ‘Renè’ Christophe. His life was cut short due to his battle with cancer. His passing was unexpected and definitely caused a shift in my life. My father was a hard working man, an inspiration, and also a go getter. After his passing, I knew I wanted to keep his name alive but I didn’t know how? It finally came to me that I can start a business using his name and that’s how ‘Renè’s Closet’ came into fruition.
Now that I finally came up with the perfect name, I needed to come up with a blueprint for my new business. I decided to create it into an online women’s clothing & accessories closet. I try to avoid using the word ‘boutique’ because I wanted my customers to envision my online store as a closet of their own.
After planning for two years, I finally launched my business on February 28th, 2020. With the help of my family and friends promoting and supporting me, I was able to get my business off the ground. For me to be new in the business world, I’m actually doing better than I expected. I’ve been gaining a lot of support from people across the country and I couldn’t be any more happier. I owe it all to the man above and of course, my guardian angel.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The journey was not easy. Being that I run everything in my business myself (email, marketing, buying inventory, shipping out orders, etc.) the process can be very overwhelming, but it’s nothing I can’t handle. I can say that COVID-19 had a huge impact on my business. It was hard for me to purchase inventory since my distributors were from overseas and across the country. My sales slowed down as well.
I honestly didn’t expect it to be a smooth sailing when it came to my business. I had a lot of doubts and fear. There were times where I wanted to give up because that was the easiest thing to do but God had other plans for me. I decided to trust in the process and leave everything in his hands. Some of my struggles became blessings in disguise. Everything happens for a reason.

Renè’s Closet (www.RenesCloset.Com) is an online closet for women. We try to carry everything that a woman would need in her closet from outfits to accessories. We specialize in making sure women are confident in what they’re wearing and making sure they’re stepping out in style. I am most proud of being an all black-owned company. Black-owned businesses are getting so much positive exposure right now and I’m proud to be a part of the movement. What sets me apart from others is that I like to take my time. I don’t like to rush into anything because quality takes time. In my business, we like to offer different quality of clothes such as loungewear, clubwear, and sometimes formal wear. As a founder and CEO of Renes Closet, I want the best for my business. In due time, I’d like to expand beyond my imagination but I’m making sure I take the necessary steps to get to that point. My business has just taken off so I’m learning as I go.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
For the future, I’d like for Rene’s Closet to be a multi-million dollar company. I have dreams of my business being very successful. I’d love to generate sales worldwide and build relationships with people who are in the same league as me. There has been talks of opening a storefront as well.
I would also love to do collaborations with existing companies. My plan is to be the next Fashion Nova, or even bigger. I have new projects in addition to Rene’s Closet that I’m working on as well that I’m hoping will work in my favor. There’s so much that I can see happening in the future. I honestly want everything that God wants for me. I can’t see it any other way.
