Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Montero.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Joseph. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My grandparents came from Cuba in the Seventies to escape the Communist regime of Fidel Castro. They came to the United States for the American dream. After working many jobs, they saved in enough money to open a furniture store in Hialeah called Happy House Furniture. That same year, my father was born. As he got older, he worked in the furniture store and eventually became the owner. I was born in Hialeah in 1994. I went to Catholic school my whole life and then went to FIU to study business. After I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, I was offered a job as a Marketing Specialist with Ashley Furniture.
My boss introduced me to Tai Lopez and my dad bought the 67 Steps. I started watching those and then because I was now on his email list, he was able to start promoting other products that he is an affiliate for. One of those products was an SEO training course, where I learned how to rank websites on Google in the organic listings. That completely changed my life. I went from having the best job I could’ve asked for coming out of college into becoming an entrepreneur. That was 2017. I incorporated Slide First, Inc. in 2017 and have been helping local businesses in South Florida rank on the first page of Google for their services and service areas.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. It has been a bumpy road and at some points, over the last three years, I have considered being a business owner or entrepreneur. Thankfully, I have incredible mentors from the SEO coaching program at Ashley Furniture, and of course, my parents.
My main struggle was creating a system for my business that was replicable. My bottleneck was the systems. Now I have those systems and my business runs smoothly. I have customers, I’ve lost customers, and I’m getting new customers now.
We’d love to hear more about Slide First.
My business specializes in Search Engine Optimization. That is anything to do with the organic search results on search engines. The main focus is Google because that’s where the traffic is, but it works for all search engines.
I’m most proud of getting my clients to be #1 in their city for their services and them growing their business because of the work that we do. What sets Slide First apart is that we truly understand the search engines. Our clients actually rank #1 and on the first page for hundreds of keywords, and they actually get new clients every month.
Another thing that sets us apart is the Research & Development of our team. We have thousands of sites that we carefully track their rankings and we’re able to know what updates in Google mean and what the search engine algorithm is looking for.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel like Miami is such a great place for a business like mine. There are so many businesses out there that need help with digital marketing and especially their websites. There are so many people and so much money. It’s a melting pot so no matter where you’re from, what your nationality is, you can identify with the people here.
