Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Benitah, Melissa and Scott Kucine.
Dan was the original owner of Dayoris. When Scott and Melissa Kucine were renovating their condo in Aventura, they saw one of Dan’s ads in a magazine. They purchased beautiful modern custom doors from him. A couple of years later when Scott and Melissa were looking to invest in a new venture, Melissa suggested that Scott call Dan. The business and changed and has grown bigger and better than they could have ever imagined.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There has been steady, rapid growth since Dan, Scott, and Melissa joined forces.
The timing was ideal all around. South Florida’s residential real estate resurgence, coupled with the trend towards everything modern and European, truly laid the groundwork for our success. Perhaps, we could say that it has been a struggle to keep up with the demand. We have already relocated once, to a facility 4 times our original location. We are now in the process of buying a supplemental space to handle additional showroom, storage, and manufacturing.

Dayoris manufactures very high end, modern doors for luxury residences here in South Florida and around the world. We specialize in frameless/invisible doors. Because we both import, AND manufacture and install locally, we are able to provide doors no other for company can – Italian doors that are uniquely customized to the adapt to the sizes and tastes of the US market. For instance, in Europe, you will rarely see a door over 8′ tall. Here in the US, especially in the Miami and Palm Beach market, our clients are requesting hugely oversized, floor-to-ceiling doors. It is only because we import materials and design and manufacture here, that we can provide this.
What were you like growing up?
All 3 of us are, and were always, business savvy, ambitious, and incredibly hard working. We have all always had an interest in modern architecture and interior design.
