Meet Robert Rowe of Global Boatworks Holdings in Pompano Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Rowe.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Robert. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was a child, we lived on the water in New England. My father, who worked full time, built a boat in the backyard which was a lot of work and took a year. In fact, my brother Ron did much more of the work in helping our father than I did. All of my activities were around or on the ocean as a kid growing up.

So, my interest in living and working on the water began in my youth.

In 2002, I started acting on an idea I had since the mid-80s; building houseboats and more specifically, luxury homes that happened to float. My brother Ron and I built our first vessel, named the Miss Leah in Boston. Ron, did the construction work as he had been in electrical and general construction his entire life.

My wife Leah, and I lived onboard Miss Leah for several years. We loved it. When we moved to Florida, we rented out the Miss Leah. It was a big hit and stayed occupied the entire season in Boston.

I decided that Florida would be a great location to build luxury vessels. The season was year round and there was no other individuals or companies acting on the concept of luxury vessels. I formed Global Boatworks Holdings, Inc.

Global Boatworks was incorporated to build a variety of luxury vessels for those that prefer living on the water. My brother Ron and my nephew do all of the construction work as they are also involved in their own construction contracting business in southeast Florida. They have their own construction firm and are in tune with the latest trends in luxury living.

The Luxuria was our first vessel built under the Global Boatworks brand and has been recently completed. Currently, the Luxuria is offered for short-term charters and is also for sale. We are hoping to sell the vessel during the upcoming Ft Lauderdale International Boat Show which is being held 1-5 November 2017.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our road has not been exactly smooth. Our first vessel, the Luxuria, a 2205 square foot vessel cost over $800,000 to build. We had a very difficult time coming up with traditional financing. One of my business partners came up with the idea of taking the company public. It took us about a year to complete the process but were able to secure several rounds of funding. Our stock is listed on the OTC Pink Sheets under ticker symbol “GBBT”. Our objective is to use the public company to continue to raise funds to build the business going forward.

Please tell us about Global Boatworks Holdings.
Our business, Global Boatworks Holdings, Inc. builds custom hybrid luxury vessels. Between my brother Ron and my nephew, they have the expertise to build almost anything from scratch.

Our flagship vessel, the Luxuria, is a one of a kind, hybrid luxury vessel. Hybrid meaning that it is a documented vessel, is not a houseboat and has the look and feel of a luxury dwelling on the water.

Luxuria was built from scratch; this is why it was so expensive to build. We used a barge hull with 3/8″ steel that is 5 feet deep. Plumbing, pumps and other machinery are located in the hull. The above hull construction was a multi-month process. Our idea was to build a luxury vessel that was unmatched with regard to luxury and amentities.

The Luxuria is one of a kind. As far as we know, there is no other vessel like it.

Luxuria is a two-story Miami contemporary design with top-of-the-line amenities and features. The richly appointed interior is approximately 1,650 square feet with two bedrooms and two baths, sleeping 4+. The Luxuria has central air conditioning throughout the interior of the vessel. The first floor of Luxuria has a queen sized bed, large living area a modern, state of the art kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave, stove, a wine rack and a washer/dryer. The second floor is a master suite consisting of a king sized bed, oversize luxury bathroom which includes a Roman soaking tub with TV. Also included is a wine refrigerator and an ultra modern workstation that includes a desk and chair with printer and scanner overlooking the marina.

Growing up in the water and being involved in activities, you can only be into if you are in the ocean. I had lobster traps as a kid.
