Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanane Parker.
Shanane, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born and raised in Jamaica, I started cooking at age nine and realized how passionate I was about being in the kitchen. I came to the United States 11 years ago. Since immigrating to the US, I’ve worked in the restaurant/ hospitality industry for nine years as a waitress and chef, developing a strong love for the unlimited creativity and artistry I have amassed while working in the industry. Although I went through some challenging times, I have no regret because it made me stronger and wiser.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When I decided to take my passion for cooking and turn it into a business, I immediately faced many challenges while trying to balance my life as an entrepreneur, college student, and a full-time employee. Starting a business can be overwhelming, but it tests you in ways to see how strong and confident you really are. Despite the struggles I have faced, it is the reason why I am who I am now and the reason why I always give 100%.

I’m a catering company located in Miramar, Florida. My business is called Shay’s Kitchen and Catering company LLC. We specialize in a wide range of cuisines from American, Caribbean and Latin cuisines. We offer full catering services and servers for events and special occasions. We’re best known for having delicious food, an astonishing presentation and extraordinary customer service. I’m most proud of the fact that I built my company from the ground up as challenging as it’s been, but we have grown so much as a company. One thing that sets us apart is my background in the food industry, where I have learned to deal with certain challenges in the kitchen and face to face with customers. We have a diverse staff that is trained with professionalism to deliver great service. We take pride in making our clients happy and satisfied as we aim to redefining delicious in our tasty meals.
