Meet Queen Ray

Today we’d like to introduce you to Queen Ray.

So, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started performing for my grandparents, who had a piano that I loved to play every opportunity I had or make sort of music. I eventually wrote poems on poems and music but never released. I was shy… timid. Lost my brother at 15 grandfathers after and my world just shattered! My son saved me… my husband is in prison still and it’s made things difficult but I’m a beast and no matter how many times I was told no, I made it an undeniable yes and will continue. I love what I do.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’m focused. Nothing is going to be ever as bad as what I’ve been through!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m an artist and I am most proud of being independent and consistent. Everything about my sound to my image to my multiple genre capabilities is Incredible.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the fact against all the odds I’ve been able to meet some great people. I just hate the lack of support from Miami. Everyone knows who Theequeenofthesouth is and if they don’t or did they still wouldn’t look it up or tell someone to go look up my page. Too much hate and envy in dade.
