Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Tate.
Sierra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been active throughout my whole life competing in various sports including gymnastics, dance, cheer, and weightlifting. To this day, I still love taking dance classes, tumbling, and doing mud runs. Once I moved onto college, I wanted to stay in shape so I joined the gym and fell in love! While in college, I coached at a gymnastics gym which fulfilled my desire to still be involved in the sport. During that time, I got my NASM certification for personal training. Once I transferred to UCF, I worked at the Recreational and Wellness Center as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor which helped develop and prepare me for the future. Now, I work as a performance specialist at the House of Athlete in Weston Florida! I didn’t expect to be here but God opened these doors and I believe it is for a reason. So far, it has been an awesome opportunity to work with Brandon Marshall and be apart of this unique facility.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being in the fitness industry, the struggles that I have dealt with have been a little more personal. With social media, in today’s society, I feel that there is more pressure to look a certain way. Therefore, I was never the most confident about myself and constantly compared myself. This is not something I expressed ever because it’s nothing something I am proud of. However, that mindset has gotten so much better!
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
What sets me apart from others as a brand is my background. Having competed in artistic sports, I have a different perspective as well as unique styles of training that I like to incorporate.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
With my background and with my passion for the artistic sports, I plan on working more with that demographic. I want to train them focusing on injury prevention, strength and conditioning because I feel like that is something that tends to be overlooked in those sports.
