Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica J.
Erica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My love for photography started with looking through a friend’s wedding album. It was around that time when portrait photography was making the transition from primarily being done in studios with flashy lights, to more of the modern stuff outdoors that we’re used to seeing today. I was fascinated by all of the things you could do with a camera. I began practicing my skills, using family and friends as “models”. My hobby eventually drew attention that brought me paid work and ultimately my first wedding. That first wedding led to more and more opportunities that have made my business what it is today.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road was fairly smooth starting out. It eventually started taking twists and turns when it dawned on me that I was a business owner. The biggest struggles I’ve faced directly correspond to the responsibilities that come with doing what I love for a living. I am first and foremost creative, so tapping into the other side of my brain for business related things do not come naturally to me. It’s a continual learning experience.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Erica J Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in natural light wedding photography and my aesthetic is often referred to as “light and airy”. What inspires me the most are people who are crazy in love with life and each other. My goal is to capture people in a way that 40 years from now they can look back at their images and feel those feelings of being cherished and remember why they fell in love all over again.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like most is the diversity of people, culture, and communities. What I like least is the traffic! =)
